Sorry to create this other thread. It is about the computer, but it';s a browser question, so it is an independent "issue" as Myriads likes to put it.

My old computer came with three browsers built in. IE, Google Chrome, and Firefox.

This computer, came with only IE., I downloaded Google Chrome shortly after the computer was set up on Saturday, and have been using it most of the time I've been online.

I've read from some of the posts on forum, that many of the forum's members use Firefox.

Since, as I've mentioned, this computer doesnt have Firefox already built in to the computer, as my previous computer did, and since I know that downloads can cause computer performance problems, viruses, etc, is it okay for me to function with the computer without having Firefox? I hardly ever used Firefox anyway, with my previous laptop, or the old desktop.

Thoughts? Thanks.

There shouldn't be any computer issues from not having Firefox. Which browser you use is a matter of choice, none of them are really required in order to run a PC. Of course, maybe I misunderstood your question.

No you didnt misunderstand the question. Thanks for your advice.

I've been using Firefox since before the issues with IE, haven't had any problems ( and this with two mid-2000's era computers). Don't know how it "reacts" with the new Windows (hell I'm still on -98), but I'd say Firefox is good-to-go. But, as others have said, 'tis your choice of browser, bowser.

Thanks, Mistress Valerie.

Thanks, rdhd.

I'll try what you both suggested.

So far,I've been basically using Google Chrome with this now two week old computer. It seems to work fine.
