It's been a somewhat interesting night, but needless to say the transfer was a success. If you're reading this news post then you are seeing the new site on the new server; congrats. 🙂

After some much needed and deserved rest I will be tweaking the site more during the day. Shouldn't be anything major, so it's quite possible you won't even notice me doing anything. Afterwards I will post a full changelog of everything new and shiny at the TickleTheater community.

Take care, and ENJOY! 😎

// Edit -- 08.27.04

Here are the official changes from the version we were at, to this one now:
vBulletin Gold 3.0.0
vBulletin Gold 3.0.1
vBulletin Gold 3.0.2
vBulletin Gold 3.0.3

My best recommendation is to just go out and explore for yourself. For example, you can see all the attachments you posted on here through your User CP. You can also download all your PMs into one convenient file, thumbnails have been added to image posts, and the upload attachment feature has been improved.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to PM myself or another staff member. :cyclopes:

It's cool TT.
That was a very good move 😀

TT the new site layout is incrediable. The list of "popular forum" on the top right of the main page is really useful.

Thanks for your Efforts!

Thanks, now if only AOL Time Warner would update their information I could pull up the new site via domain instead of IP. Ah well, back to bed! 😀

Awesome job, TT! There are a few questions I have but I'll save them until you tell us what all you've changed. I dig the new color scheme though! Very bright and cheery. 😀

i think it looks great. thanks for all you do tickletheater. this is the best tickle community i have found so far. thanks
Ko

I'm most pleased with being able to see a small picture of the thumbnailed attachments, especially for my art. It serves as a good preview before they actually decide to open it up.

Outside of art, its even more useful, since some people don't want to have to guess that the material they are looking at is good or worth their time. This way, they can see it before they download it.

EDIT:

Although if I do have one single gripe, its that our usernames on the userbar seem too large to me. Its sort of distracting. Any way you can make them smaller so they not only don't pixelate, but don't stand out too much either? Just a suggestion and thought.

The usernames are big so they do catch your eye since you must click them in order to either contact or perform other options with that user. 🙂

New scheme, needs to get used to.

Still, the older buttons and selection methods seemed easier.
Also, the newer layout seems a bit too large to me: the older could fit nicely in 800*600.

This one looks more "cluttered". Just my HO.

Aw, but you can't make everybody happy so...

EDIT:

I like the new layout, mind you. I just like "optimized space".
The older one was more space-effective. 🙂

Not so much scheme, as this is how the actual updated board looks. You can go to www.vbulletin.com and see the same basic layout, it's just how it's programmed. Sure I can make some tweaks here and there, but only so much you can do through that. 🙂

I run 1024x768. I just switched to 800x600 and K is right it really doesn't work too well at this resolution. Actually the only thing I see that really keeps it from looking nice at 800x600 are the box under the avatars with the user's info and longer user names.
I am also noticing that I reallyneed to makemy siggy pic smaller cause on this recolution it's just too big.

Aaaaaaanyway...
I really like the changes you've made, TT. Thanks for putting links to the Artists Forums at the top of each page! We should get a lot more exposure now I think.
I also dig the way the admin functions are set up now. Much easier to access (once I found them! hehe).
I really like all the new graphical elements. Very snazzy. 🙂
The drop down menus on the topof the first thread kick butt. I see you made a TON of new, subtle changes and it's lookin good!

A couple of MINOR concerns I have...is there still a way to see the download count of attachments?

Oh wow!! I just noticed what happens when you click on a person's name! Kick ass!! I anxiously await your post detailing all of these changes so I dontmiss more cool thingslike that.
*throws confetti* Yay TT!

Well thank you, all of you, I am glad that you guys appreciate my efforts. There is an addon I plan to install on the board that will address the massive sig images *cough* some people have. 🙂

In the meantime, please note on the lower lefthand corner of the site there is a new dropdown menu. Right now you are in the new Default Style for the site. If you click down, and select "Space Saver", you will see that the main forum listings are organized in a much cleaner (less bells and whistles) sort of way.

I'm in 800x600 now, and the boxes are aligned fine with most people's posts. The specified width size for the user info stuff is set to 160 pixels. Only if you have a significantly huge image in your sig will it mess up those boxes to try to squeeze into 800 pixels.

// edit

As far as the username sizes go, they do fit (again pending sig images) under the 800x600 resolution. The maximum character limit is 15, and if you check HisDivineShadow who has 15 characters, you will see it fits. 🙂

*goes back to his accustomed 1280x1024 resolution.*

TT is not talking about you 🙄
Testing to see if the pretty quotes are back. And yes, I was* referring to nessy. However I see she has resized her sig image which is good news to dialup users everywhere! 😛

LOL TT you buttnugget if my siggy was too big why didn't you say something before? I've had it there for like 4 months. 😛
*swats TT silly* 😀

Uh...."buttnugget" just sounds wrong, so very wrong. You're not the only one ness who had the massive sigs, and I was just a wee bit lazy as to not contacting everyone in violation of the sig limits. 🙂

Member signatures are to be kept at a reasonable size. Please do not include more than 5 lines of text or use fonts larger than size 3. Members using images in signatures are to be considerate to all members by keeping image dimensions no larger than 300x100 pixels and 35Kb in size.

Ay yi yi I've got to shrink it again? It was barely visible at 400 px wide! How about "buttlord"? Fartknocker? Mealy mouthed crotch pheasant? LOL I heard that on the Family Guy and have been looking for an opportunity to unleashit. 😀

Seems HDS needs to change his siggy as well. 😛

Excellent job on the site, Bossman!

I'll get on that sig fix now....

ACK! So horrible.....can we maybe edit the rule so that dimensions can be more around 500x200 if we keep the image file size down to below 30k? That'll help dial-up users a whole lot more than having smaller (Dimension-wise) images, which won't really help them at all since file size is all that matters. But, it is as always your call, he-who-pays-the-bandwidth-bill. Pweeese?

I agree with Alex *shoots self for saying that*
If the file size is kept below 30k I don't think an image of 400px (maybe 500, I'd have to see one) would pose any problems for those running 800x600.
And it's too bad you had to take down your siggy pic, Alex. I really liked that one.

Checked at 640*480 - too narrow.

At 800*600 reasonable sig width should be under 550 pixels. Anything wider would stick out.

Also, considering the personal infos bar on the left, with 5 or so lines long posts, height could be around 150-200 pixels - in keeping with TT's guidelines, though, suggested height should be less: around 50-75 pixels.

My own sig is a 390*60 gif pic - square area 23400 pixels, against a suggested size of 30000 - weighting 15.7k.

Note:
I resized my own sig at 300*100 - and it was actually larger, 28.5K, than the 390*60 version, 24.3k - same compression.

Edit 01:
Within given size, 35k seems reasonable: even without compression my own sig is only around 31k.

Edit 02:
Also checked the name pop-down: it fails to work under Mozilla Firefox. Nothing new though: never worked on other sites too.

[I disabled some script functions to be safe, probably disabled pop-downs as well]

Reg's.

I'll think over the sig image dimensions. In the meantime...

/me checks to see if the / me (no space) is working.
