Cambodia?

I am an American living in Phnom Penh. Does anyone else hail or live in Cambodia?

It is a beautiful country. Unfortunately it is still ravaged because of Khmer Rouge. I have trekked over Europe and all over Asia, and now I settle here. I teach English. I love this place. I speak a little Khmer, getting better by the day. I am absolutely in love with this place. However, it would be awesome to meet up with some female 'lers here. 🙂

Yikes! Good thing you got out Val-hun! I know some of the stuff the Khmer Rouge did and it was just god-awful!

Unfortunately it is still ravaged because of Khmer Rouge.

Does that mean a great deal of the farmable land was permanently ruined? I hope; we're having enough problems with world hunger as it is right now.

Many of the buildings, temples, and other landmarks were damaged or fell into neglect during the 1970's wars and are still being restored or waiting for restoration. I don't know about the current arable land situation, but until recently, military operations continued sporadically in some of the rural areas.
