What are some signs that a person may have Cancer?

I'm just wondering that because me and my mom were taking a drive yestrday getting stuff ready for christmas and well she was all picking loose hairs off my head and she kinda pointed out that i'm loosen my hair a little little tiny bit. And i kinda just brushed it off and said yeah maybe maybe not. But now that she said that it has been on my mind over and over again that i might have Cancer. I'm not looseing weight though i have already checked my weight everyday and i'm at 140 pounds. But i normally weigh 140 pounds to 150 pounds anyways.

I'm nervous and worrying about this My Aunt's husband died of cancer a long time ago now. But that was on my mom's side NOT my dad's.

I agree with the others, BlackmoonDoll. It would be better to pay a few bucks and find out what's going on now than put it off and catch something in its later stages. You may not have cancer at all, of course. Is there baldness in your family? You could be losing your hair due to genetics. I had a friend who had more hair than Jerry Garcia when we were around your age and now he's almost lost it all on top. Stress has a lot to do with it, too. Good luck and let us know what the physician says.

Cancer doesn't cause hair loss. People with cancer often lose their hair due to the treatments (chemotherapy, etc.) they undergo.

There are MANY types of cancer hon...I'm with Frankie~you may just be prone to early hair loss. One of my best friends was almost totally bald at 22. I'd go see a doctor for a check up, just to be safe...

Blackmoon, Iam in agreement with those on the board. More than likely, you have simple hair loss and not cancer. I have a friend who is my age (34) and almost bald. He lost his hair when he was 12. In addition, I have had relatives who have died from cancer, including my grandfather, and he had symptoms of being very ill before being diagnosed with his bladder cancer, including stomach pains, trouble with his bladder, and so forth. Usually with cancer, one has some symptoms or feels ill health wise. I am not a doctor, but my bet is that it is just early hair loss, which happens to some men, and not cancer. If you experience dramatic weight loss, loss of appetite, feel sick to your stomach, or have trouble with bodily functions, see your doctor, but if none of those happen, chances are you are fine.
You can check with your doctor if you keep losing your hair, but my guess would be, from having close relatives with cancer, that your problem is simple hair loss and not cancer.

Like Frankie and Steph said, it's always a good idea to get checked out b/c, in the unlikely event that you do have it, you have more options for treatment. I don't think the hair loss is a direct symptom of the disease. There are other symptoms which you don't mention that would be more a cause for worry, like fatigue, lumps in parts of your body, coughing up blood, etc... When you go to the doc, just describe your concern to him/her and you can discuss options. Chances are, you are OK but it never hurts to know for sure. If you are not satisfied, spend the time and $$ to get a second opinion.

Keep us posted on what the doctor says.

That is why you do annual check ups.
