Well I had quite the movie going time over Sunday and Monday. As some of you know I saw Cowboys and Aliens on Sunday night, and then watched Friends with Benefits early Monday afternoon (Long Weekend... YAY!). Well it didn't end there. Later that evening I watched Captain America, and Bad Teacher.

Captain America started out with allot of promise, but after the first half hour it seemed to fall apart. The USO stuffed was so lame that I decided to go for some fries and a coke. They really seemed to have rushed the story, I think they should have had one Hydra Base to go after, and built the story around Captain America's relationship with the other soldiers (almost like a Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan with a superhero twist). I also think they over did it with Cap's abilities. The Super Soldier Formula only enhanced him to maximum human capacity, not super human ability. I did like the casting, the acting was good, but the story was crap, so thumbs down.

Bad Teacher was really funny, raunchy, and Cameron Diaz does a car wash scene that buries the one Jessica Simpson did in her music video. The ending was somewhat predictable (not where she'd end up, but who she would end up with), but it was still a great flick for immature grown-ups... not that we know any. Thumbs up to bad teacher.

But hey, we all like what we like 😀

The story for Captain America is pretty much the same as what it's always been, just a little different for the movie. I thought the story was great, and the crash into the ocean brought tears to my eyes.

FYI bringing someone to the maximum human capacity IS super human ability because no person will ever reach that level. Now the aim and skillful throwing of the shield was kinda out of nowhere and might have been better fleshed out more, but it works.

But anyway, I think the Cap works better for those who have actually been into the comic and character and have a connection with him. Or maybe that would make them more picky? I don't know.

Probably won't see Bad Teacher. But hey, keep throwing up your reviews. Always good to hear people's opinions. 🙂

First Avenger was all image, no substance. They should have put more into it, but they simply didn't care enough. Cap and Thor where pumped out just so they could get to The Avengers movie quicker. I've been reading comics for a while myself, not Cap's book specifically, but I have read enough stories that had him in them to know Captain America, Steve Rogers, deserved a story with more depth.

I haven't seen Bad Teacher but I saw Captain America. I liked it a lot actually. Yeah I admit it was a far cry from perfect but I thought it was handled better than I expected. The casting was great. I have to strongly disagree with the USO part, I thought that was easily one of the best parts of the movie. I wondered the whole time how they were going to incorporate Cap's costume in a plausible way (Let's face it, he's the one and only super soldier and you dress him up in red white and blue behind enemy lines) and the USO show I thought was a really clever way of making the outfit's story make sense while at the same time giving a pulp atmosphere that was seen in 40's propaganda films. As for his abilities, I distinctly remember Cap doing stunts like that ALL the time when I read the Avengers comics as a kid. That said I had my problems with it but I thought it was a worthwhile movie and I'm glad I saw it.
