The St.Louis Cardinals postponed their game tonight between their arch-rival Chicago Cubs after learning that their 29 year old reliever Josh Hancock was killed in an automobile accident. This is the second tragedy to the Cardinals in less than 5 years. Darryl Kile die in his hotel room while the Cardinals were in Chicago to play the Cubs. Hancock just turned 29 on April 11th was 0-1 with a 3.55 ERA. He had pitched 3 innings on Saturday ( April 28th ) against the Cubs allowing 1 run on 2 hits struck out 2 and walked one. The Cubs won that contest by the final count of 8-1. For Hancock, this was his 4th Major League team as he pitched for the Reds, the Phillies and the Red Sox. He was 9-7 in his career with a 4.20 ERA. Josh Hancock dead at 29.

I just heard that on the news. Its always sad when someone so young looses their life....... :sadcry:

The Cardinals have been playing like dogs this season, and fans are very disgusted with their play thus far. But a tragedy like this really puts things in perspective. Its only a game. Such a shame, he was only 29.

I heard about this on the news. What a tradegy. My thoughts prayers, and condolences are with Mr Hancock's family, and the Cardinals orginization.

This is tragic news, overwhelming the scores of today's games as sports news, obviously. How very sad to die so young.

It very much puts things into perspective. No matter what is going on whether your team wins or loses you still have to live life. Unfortunately, Josh Hancock was only 29 years of age. But you have to believe that he is in a better play today than he was yesterday. It is a sad day for the Cardinals, their fans, MLB and Josh Hancock's Mom and Dad and siblings ( if any ) who from what I understand are the only family in his life as he had no wife or children.
