Causing laughter BEFORE you tickle....

I'm one of those 'lees that tends to hold her laughter in when a 'ler tickles me. Not sure why that is, perhaps I just like a challenge. 😉 It's not something that I control exactly. I guess I have a very hard time just letting go of that first giggle. This has worked to my disadvantage on several occasions when the 'ler gave up and figured that I just wasn't that ticklish (despite the squirming). My stubborness only serves to make things more interesting with a 'ler who is persistant and determined to PROVE that I really am ticklish (which actually isn't the majority of 'lers.... speaking mainstream, of course). It makes me feel kind of high-maintenance sometimes and makes me wish my body was wired differently. I've seen those girls who absolutely dissolve into gales of laughter upon first tickle, and I wish I could do that. 🙁

HOWEVER... there is one ray of hope for a 'lee like me. A couple years ago I discovered that if a 'ler gets me to laugh BEFORE he tickles me, it completely disarms whatever control-freak/stubborn-streak security system my body has and I become WAY more ticklish. My laughter becomes almost immediate upone first contact, and I have a very hard time controlling my reactions. It seems the more a 'ler acts like a total goofball, the more ticklish I become. Unfortunately, there are very few 'lers out there (outside of this forum) that know about this trick.

My question to all you creative (and persistant) 'lers is this.... have you ever tickled this kind of 'lee? And if so, what are some of the things that you did to make her/him laugh before you actually tickled them? Do you find this kind of 'lee frustrating or challenging? Be honest.

Boy, can I ever relate to this! I've even had people claim that I'm not really ticklish. (Of course, many simply wouldn't believe me when I told them the ways that worked....which doesn't include digging for gold.) I've always held back my laughter. It's something of a survival instinct that developed when I was little that is just now beginning to be overcome. But, getting me laughing before tickling is always a help. That's cool with me too, since tickling is primarily about goofing around and having fun with friends for me.

I think one of the things that people need to realize is that not everyone reacts the same way and that a lack of audible laughter doesn't mean that the lee isn't going totally nuts inside. I realize that it's generally more fun for a ler to be able to see/hear the reactions. But, if they'd give it half a chance, they might be pleasantly surprised.

To get to your question...from a lee perspective, goofy voices, impersonations and the like will often get me going enough to let go of the laughter.

Mmm I try sometimes not to give in and not laugh, but, I'm such a sucker that it doesn't last long at all :manicd:

I also love the messing about and playing before we get down to serious tickling as in being restrained. The amount of times we're on the sofa and having a giggle over things then the tickles start and we wrestle a bit and ultimately end up on the floor with more tickling, hysterics and wiggling about with us both trying to get the upperhand.

I think a good laugh pre tickle play is a great way at releasing any inhibitions and then just letting go.

Have you tried drinking a bit of alcohol beforehand, not loads so your sloshed but just enough to relax you?

Have fun trying it out :firedevil

lol, well I guess that means i'll be able to make you laugh when i tickle you since I'm a pretty funny guy 😛

but i dunno, i can be pretty pursistant though when tickling a girl like that. People need to have patience and not give up, i mean if they have you squirming and stuff even if you're not laughing obviously it tickles doesn't? So how could they say you're not ticklish?

That's the best.

I used to date a guy who would just put is hand gently on a spot that was ticklish, and just say the word "Tickle."

A lot of times, especially if I was out of it or not expecting it, I would freak out.

It was kind of annoying to me, because I know how ridiculous I probably looked, but fun nonetheless.

in the past, all i have ever had to do to my girl was say "I'm gonna tickle you...", with a hint of evilness in my voice. coupled with wiggling fingers inching ever closer to her, she starts to spasm and giggle when i have yet to make contact.

one of my past girlfriends, who i have actually written about on the forum, would never really laugh audibly. she was extremely ticklish (and a very willing 'lee, i might add), and never had any problems propping her feet in my lap or putting her hands over her head when i asked. and when i tickled, she squirmed like crazy (unless i was tickling her feet...she seemed to enjoy that)...but, no matter how long, how cruel or soft the touch, or where i tickled, i could never get the laughter to bubble out of her. for the longest time it was a side-goal of mine to make it happen, but was never able to...*sigh* those were the days...

AMEN SISTER! It's nice to know I'm not the only tough nut to crack. :twohugs:

Very good question! I guess it's because most people in the mainstream seeing tickling as a very simple equation... LAUGHTER=TICKLISH... and anything that falls outside that norm gets discounted as unresponsive.

Now, I guess I have to take some of the responsibility for this dilemma too - I could certainly clue my 'ler into this chink in my armor, but talking about it is VERY difficult for me. Kind of a catch-22, huh?

So, ticklemonster... you failed to mention what you actually do to get your 'lee giggling before you tickle her. Or whether or not you enjoyed being with a 'lee that posed a challenge for you. Inquiring minds want to know...

Thanks for the suggestion, but when tickling is involved, I prefer to play it straight. I've tried to mix tickling with alcohol or pot and generally, it doesn't do much for me. In actuality, it's not that I don't laugh when being tickled, it's just that I need a guy who is comical to get me "warmed up" first. If that happens, my laughter can be off the charts! I've actually been brought to the point of laughing so hard that speaking my "safeword" was impossible.

But if I'm with a 'ler who is less verbal or more straight-laced, I have a TOTALLY different experience. That kind of guy would be lucky to get a giggle out of me. It's almost like my responses mirror his... weird.

That's cute. I could see where doing something like that completely out of the blue would be funny. Mind games... gotta love 'em.

I guarantee you, one look at my mug, and you'll start cracking up, before I lay a finger on you! I have quite an array of "expressions", you know. :woot:

Being the wiseass that I am, I'd probably try to look at you completely deadpan and say "You think so, huh?" :cool2:

Then I'd have to either close my eyes or put a paper bag over your head! 😀

I have had specific 'lees like this. The "prenending to tickle even tho im not, but am just about to" technique works REAL well because it freaks the lee out about getting tickled, to the point where they're imagination takes over as to how bad it will be. In addition other things mentioned here work real well.

Some other things work though. This one works particularly well on the feet, but would also work real in other places.... If you have a little bit of nail growth, it works even better. VERY LIGHT but constant/repetative stroking/scratching of the fingers, of the "classic finger-tickle motion" in one spot that is ticklish makes the lee kinda realize "oh man, i cant get out of this situation, oh man the tickling isn't stopping, it tickles, its going to tickle more". it kind of "warms up" the nerve endings, so when you change speed or pressure of nails on skin there is usually an explosion of laughter, but you have to time it just right, right when you realize that they are just starting to really freak out about the idea. another good spot to do this is on the sides under the ribcage, the love handles. very light fingernail tickling, and then when they get all goofy and crazy about it just dig in 😀

In short if you build up the tickling slowly, sometimes starting without tickling at all and just teasing about it, to raise the anticipation and nervousness/excitement about it, it will be like passionate sex. the tension and buildup will be so high for both the lee and ler that once things get really moving with the tickling process it will be outta control/outta this world for both, especially the lee. If you have a ticklish person, this technique works :rotate:

Good luck, hope i helped!

Well the paper bag would be out because you'd be tied down, of course. And once I start doing my "nervous tick" routine, along with wiggling my ears, accompanied with saying "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?", I would have you in stitches in no time. It's sure fire laughter! :2poke:

it's one of those "You just have to be there" situations. i have been told i have quite a voice.

I wouldn't want my tickler to be goofing around too much. That would actually kind of ruin the athmosphere for me. I'm more into the evil smile and evil voice as well. That and seeing his wiggling fingers come closer and closer is enough to make me start giggling nervously. And once he started to touch, there is no way to hold back the laughter for me, no matter how hard I'd try :ermm: 😱

LOL... a nervous tick and wiggling ears? Sounds to me like you should get another refill on your prescription. 😛 :upsidedow

What perscpription? Victor Borge was the master of the nervous tick, also the "spit take". After Danny Thomas.

i think that a "start/stop" approach works best. quick, light tickles that stop and resume in a random way can be very effective. very disarming. then, if all else fails, there's always the electric toothbrush :jester:

lol... i think only one inquiring mind really wants to know lol.. so not minds. About the laughing before tickling thing... lol. I'm just a pretty funny guy, atleast I think I am, so I be a "goofball" (i believe that was your word) first 😛. And as for the challege thing. I really don't like going through that challenge of the girl not laughing when I'm tickling her. I like her to laugh right away or atleast giggle, however, i'm an aries (birthday starts in 7 minutes) and since I'm an aries you know I'm stubborn and I'm persistant so I'll keep at it. and if they don't laugh I guess i'll live as long as I get them squirming and stuff. I hope none of that sounded stupid becuase it probably did lol... I'm more of a shower than a teller ya know.

Is he a cousin of Mickey? Or is that a species of rodent that lurks in NYC? :imouttahe

Thanks to all those who replied to this thread. I appreciate your suggestions, but in actuality, I already know what works for me... it's just hard finding a 'ler who is good at it.... present company excepted, I'm sure. 😀 It could be that other things might work as well, it's just that in all my years playing 'lee, there has never been another technique that has worked as well as the "warm-up" laughter I described.

Anyway, the REAL question behind this thread was posed at the end of my (rather long-winded) story. "...have you ever tickled this kind of 'lee? And if so, what are some of the things that you did to make her/him laugh before you actually tickled them? Do you find this kind of 'lee frustrating or challenging? Be honest".

For those that answered the question already, thanks. :smilelove

More like those chaotic rodents than ran around "en mass" as in those silent "Farmer Jones" cartoons.

I think it's a good idea to get someone to laugh before the tickling begins. As for me, I don't even try to hold it in I just let out my laughing. However, I'd love it if my ler were to wiggle their fingers before tickling me and then I'd start giggling and I also LOVE verbal teasing, that would make me laugh as well.

Do you mean like, "How does this feel feel Jen-Jen?" "Oooooooo... you look so soft and sensitive there!" or "Awwwwww... does this make Jenny get all tickly tickly... giggly giggly?"
