Cheshires World dead in the water....(along with all the rest)

Yahoo recently decided to terminate ALL of my Yahoo accounts meaning that Cheshires World and all the foot groups I had made are now gone....after much frustration and nashing of teeth, I composed myself and will now be searching for a new home. So for the time being all new artwork will be posted here....and probably nowhere else...maybe TickleTheater...I dunno...I'm still livid right now...

Why would Yahoo do that? Then again I don't trust it that much either, since it just wiped out all the files in people's briefcases out a while ago.

I already posted on this issue in the General Discussions forum, but it bares repeating. This is wrong and its an injustice, to put it mildy, and I wish there was something I could do to make this right.

@ FF7Tickler- Is that true? I'd better go look at mine. This is probably happening to everyone. And the last thing I need is to be shut down or have my files deleted right before my comeback update.

Well it is true, we had this problem at the ATF in which we were trying to access a briefcase for an old pic and it didn't work. It basically reset yoru entire briefcase, also so it wasn't suited for public view. I lost all my files.

...I can't even find out WHY they did it because my e-mail account went with all the rest...plus the geocities file manager with all the bios and stories I hadnt even made public yet (some of those I didnt have back-ups for)

😕 I checked and only your Tickling Art of Japan group has been deleted. The other groups seem to be operational as of right now. 😀 Perhaps it has something to do sexual spam or maybe Yahoo just decided that your artwork was unsuitable for the category or even the Yahoo groups. 😕 😱

I don't see why, it might be something stupid like you have too many groups or a "content" reason.

Well, my group has been spared for now. I still don't like this one bit. Theres got to be something we artist/authors can do to protect ourselves from this type of thing. But I doubt it would be as simple as just moving to a different server provider. They would probably be just as bad as Yahoo!.

I hate to say this, but to protect yourselves form this kind of thing it basically comes down to paying for hosting. Yahoo's fine print pretty much allows them to do whatever they want, with or w/o warning, and thats the price you pay for getting it free. Its not so much don't look a gift horse in the mouth as you can't look the gift horse in the mouth or he'll bit your fingers off.

Yeah, I've known that from the get go. The only thing is, and I'm sure you've noticed, most of us artists can't afford that expense. I know we shouldn't bitch too much, but this didn't have to happen. I have no problem with Yahoo! actually. Its more about what they did to CC and what they could do to me and the others that upsets me. CC seemed to have had all his bases covered, yet this still happened dispite that. As a fellow artist, that practically infuriates me.

Nothin' for nothin', but I belong to several other groups other than tickling ones, and there has been a tremendous uproar about groups/files/briefcases disappearing. It seems that yahoo is on a binge and purge of adult oriented sites, though nothing can be proven since yahoo will not respond to anyone.

Anyhow, just thought I'd let you group owners know, in case you didn't already know.

And on a side note, it seems kinda messed up that my 200th post would be for such a lousy topic. Ah well, such is life.

My simpathies to cheshire.
although i get the same result as rajee when searching for cheshire's groups, this is still a trajic affair. The vast majority of artists use the groups as a free and easy way of hosting their work.
As of yet my groups are also unaffected, although how can any of us be certain how long our groups will be around.

Funny man...LOL...well I have a feeling it was the fact that I just had too many groups, or possibly something to do with the one Tickling Artist Gallery JAPAN group. I seem to remember a very angry japanese artist mailing me like 5 times in one day begging me to remove his artwork that he did and that it was a "great injustice" i had commited. Well I removed them a long while ago but it could be something like that.

If that is the case I may swallow my pride and open a new yahoo account and just make one group for Cheshires World and thats it. Just a place to host my art and nothing more. Dont want to push things...I'm actually more upset that I lost my Mail account with all my saved E-mails and address book...

Chaos in yahoo.

There is a big discussion going on in yahoo. There are going to be alot of stuff going on that no one is going to like. 1 I heard is that you will have to pay to use there IM. I cannot let ya know everything I know, but lets just say Yahoo is going to get real unpopular in the near future.
