Offensive issues aside, Nobody can question the Bears defensive stance last season. I think this trend will continue.

it should since you have one of the best defensive minds in the NFL, Lovey was the reason why the Rams did so well when the Offense was being shut down. He came from Tampa as the linebacker coach. If the Bears can find a McMann type Qb like they had in 84, someone that can stay healthy and not give the game way in the last minutes i can see the bears going to the Bowl again.
 
If all goes well on offense, I see no reason why we can't be a serious contender this year.
 
No matter how good your defense is, you cant win a championship without an offense.
 
True, but take a look at how our offense has progressed. We have Jones and Benson at halfback, and Grossman is coming along strong at quarterback. Griese is a great backup...

I just wish we had another McMahon type...

No touchdowns in pre season is coming along at qb?
Grossman has proved nothing in the NFL, thomas jones has an attitude problem and is gonna be a priss cuz he "lost his job" cuz he didnt attend "voluntary" practices, benson is injured and also unproven. The bears have no star wide reciever. Muhammad and gage are average recievers that you dont need your stud cb or to double team them, an average nfl back will be able to cover adequately

I think Muhammad is a great reciever. Grossman will get better, he has flashes of brilliance, but he's going through that learning process. If Benson can get healthy, I think he could a a force in the league. That is, if he plays like he did at Texas. I don't know, maybe I am a bit too hopeful, but at least the foundation for success (A good defense) is there. After all, "Defense Wins Championships"

Bottomline though Maniac is the Ravens won. But lets be fair, the Bears will not have as good a season as a year ago. The Bears defense will get discourage after a while if the offense doesn't do anything. I actually think the Bears finish third in this division.

That is def a possibility. I still say we win the division, just because Green Bay is looking even worse than last year, and detroit will be the usual detroit. Minnesota is the only one I'm curious about.

For the past 5+ years the offense has not scored and defense has maintained. If they didnt crack then, why would they all a sudden crack now? Actually this is the least injury filled pre season for the team cuz smith lessened the full contact drills he used to butcher the teams with, so now they will be healthier

you're joking, right??? Minnesota will not be better, Green Bay is a mess, and Detroit still have problems on both sides of the ball. If the Bears lose a single division game, it will be a shock. They are a lock to get to the playoffs

all that matters is the teams you are rooting for is gonna suck, the baseball teams you are rooting for is gonna fall flat, and the only thing you have to look forward to is the Knicks trying to be respectable again.

You will be wrong about Detroit this year. And that comes from a Jets fan who knows the Jets will stink. The Lions and maybe the Vikings will fight for first. Bears have NO OFFENSE and the Packers will just not have it this season. I pick the Lions to finish first in this division. That is a bold prediction, but then again, I said the Tigers would contend and they are in first place. 🙂

What do the lions or vikings have you should ask. NFC north is the weakest yet again, much like the NL central this year
