Chicago Reporter Fired For.. Freudian Slip

I'm sure that at least some forum members have heard about the situation regarding Chicago sports reporter Susannah Collins.

I watched the video first hand.. Ms Collins, discussing the Chicago Blackhawks, during a report for her station, had what was called a "Freudian Slip" Collins said.. "The Blackhawks had a lot of SEX during the season, in a place she was supposed to have said "Success".

Yesterday, Ms Collins was let go by the station she worked for. Although, I read there probably will be many offers for her services.

I personally think her Freudian Slip was rather.. amusing. It's regrettable it resulted in the loss of her job.

According to CBS in Chicago, they claimed that parting ways with Collins was "Unreleated to her situation regarding the remark". However, the Chicago Black Hawks hockey team stated that her remarks drew attention to a previous show she was involved in.. called "Sports Nutz", which combined sports reporting, and Sexual innuendo, and that the Black Hawks wanted the network that shows their games, to let Collins go.

I love how major entities, like sports teams, networks, etc.. try to cover up the reason for a firing in a situation like this. Why did CBS have to say "Due to circumstances unrelated to the remark". Why couldn't they just have said nothing at all.. or.. actually been honest. Something like "Ms Collins made a remark that we thought was inappropriate, which shed light on previously sexually themed work she had done, and due to this, we decided to let her go".
