Sounds a bit like Toyota and Honda locating plants in the USA and Canada in the 80's in odrder to avoid import restrictions and cut shipping costs.
Now all things considered, including the political climate and all that, especially in southern "right-to-work" states, will American workers in general end up with a better standard of living or more rights to unionize, etc. than their Asian counterparts, whom I understand fare little better than slaves? (The current unrest in Thailand is fairly typical of a two-tiered haves-and-have-nots society, which admittedly the USA is not, at least not yet. Just saying).
