Clever ways to find out if someone is ticklish

Even if I know I'll never tickle a certain girl, I like to know if and where they're ticklish. So beyond just straight up tickling them, I've found some other ways to find out without asking them upfront in a weird kind of way.

If I'm talking to them online (facebook, AIM), I'll start a normal conversation with them. Then I'll type something like "I could TOTALLY take you!" at random. Then I'll immediately say, "oops, looks like I talked the wrong person", or something along those lines. They'll laugh, and I'll say something to the effect of "well, I don't think I'd win in a fight against you anyway. The worst I could probably do is tickle you, haha." From there the conversation about ticklishness is natural, and can find out what I'm curious about.

Does anyone else have other ways that they use?

Yes. Before I joined this site in 2002, I used to have female snail mail pen pals from 1996 to 2002. I would use one of two ways. I would either discuss past experiences where I myself was tickled by a girl, and mention how ticklish I am, and then ask if tickling experiences had ever happened to them, and if they were ticklish.

Sometimes, I would even white lie, and say that I had been tickled in the recent past by.. say.. a female cousin, at a family gathering, and ask if they had any family members who had tickled them anytime recently.

This was quite a few years ago, but it worked, so...

There are many ways, but I just thought of one in particular that was a lot of fun and easy to do. Back when Myspace was in it's heyday, there were a lot of surveys being spread around that people would fill out and post on their myspace page or as an announcement. I remember seeing at least one survey that included a question that asked if the person was ticklish. So I decided to fill out the survey and repost it in the hopes that a lot of my female friends on Myspace would do the same and answer "the question". It worked wonderfully as I found out about the ticklishness of a lot of friends in a very innocent way. 😀

Back in the day I used to try to find out about ticklishness of female friends online a lot. Usually I'd take the approach of bringing up massage. I'd say that my back is sore, or something along those lines, and that I could use a massage. Then I'd say "Have you ever had a professional massage?" - and they'd answer, and I'd say something about how I've had them before but they tickle....and there we go.....

Bringing up doctors appointments too works in a similar way.

When I was away at school. It made this very subject a sport of mine to play night when i was on my computer talking to friends from home on AIM. Back in 2000, who DIDNT have AIM. It was like the original facebook practically.

One of my favorite ways to go about it was to pretend their window had just popped up and I was typing to someone else. The trick was that when I sent the hello message you had to start typing the planted message immediately or you will fail.

Sometimes leading questions would work to. I comes off as general conversation but we all know that the conversation is being steered to a ticklish topic. There are a hundred way to lead the conversation you just have to sneaky like a lawyer.
Anyway that's just some things to think about. Maybe I helped someone.

You could mention for whatever reason that someone you know, was going to get a pedicure, they may reply with something about being ticklish. Or say "Have you heard about those new fish spas, where people go and let these fish eat at their feet?" It's all just a shot in the dark with some people though. One time I got a mosquito bite on the side of my foot, my feet are so sensetive that when I went to scatch it, it tickled me so much. ;P

I personally find nothing odd in asking a person if they are ticklish...it is a normal question actually. It is just because the way we are wired that it seems weird, but to people who have no idea they have not a clue ya know! But some of your methods are clever 🙂

I like this idea. A lot! I'm a big'n (6'4" 250#) but crazy ticklish, and can use this to my advantage. Usually, most girls think its OK to hit me, mostly bc I'm so large and docile. And tiny girls surprisingly can punch really hard - I think small fists = high pressure, but I digress. Anyway . . . now, I'll just tell "watch yourself, shortie; I'll take you out, unless its a tickle fight! Then you might stand a chance."

Just start playing 21 Questions with someone. Work it in around the half way mark and you're in! 😛 More often than not they usually ask it back too, so its a double win.

But I agree with daddy, as long as its not totally random when you ask it, you don't have to invent clever ways to bring it up

Here are the methods I've used.

add are you ticklish into a "survey" that I give to friends "for fun"
IM or email a friend that I know that wants to be an actress or model as a "producer" and guage their interest in doing a video that has tickling in it. or foot modeling.
IM someone under a different Screename and say that...
I am doing a survey about laughter and ticklishness and ask if they will participate
start a normal convo and add in that I am doing a project where I have to "sell" a product, mine is a foot massager and I can't stop laughing
Talk about being nervous about getting a massage or pedicure
talk about going on a date with someone who is into tickling and feet and not sure how I feel about it
