JJ put it best in his most recent post. When writers here hit "Submit New Thread". That's it. It's gone.

There are always stories you'll miss for one reason or another and thank goodness those get bumped or noticed at all.

Thing is, a lot of effort go into some of these. A lot of hard work, dedication, research, early postings to other writers or close friends for feedback and suggestions, etc. This can sometimes take weeks if not longer. A lot of these aren't written in just a few hours. There's hair pulling, writer's block, frustration, endless re-writes, pain, support, false starts, scraped ideas and half stories, and of course, happiness and pride that you created something out of an idea that became something much more on a blank computer screen.

But, once we hit that Submit New Thread button, there's nothing we can do but hope you all liked and enjoyed it.

Comments, both good and constructive suggestions, are what keep us ALL going (please don't think for a second this is about me - it's about every writer here, new or old, who dares submit his or her work in this wonderful sub-forum in the hopes that he or she entertained someone else and was willing enough to share with the world their ideas outside of themselves and take the readers to another place for a few minutes, sometimes a little longer. That always take a lot of courage especially if you're new at this), and keeps us actively learning and coming up with new ideas in the hopes that we keep you entertained.

One of the worst feelings is just not knowing...

Thanks. 🙂

Great post, babe.

It takes a lot for some of us to work up the courage to submit a story. I almost scrapped my very first one. I couldn't believe I was working on a tickling story with sexual content and I was about to share it with Lord knows how many people.

The support from those who read and enjoy, or even don't really care for it but still want to post some constructive criticism; means a lot. It really does.

Marquis - you nailed it.

I don't think a casual reader quite appreciates what it means to a writer when he/she hits reply and posts "cool story."

More detailed feedback is even more of a bonus. If you like someone's stuff, PLEASE let them know! Speaking for myself, the more feedback I get, the more enthusiastic I am about writing and posting stories in the future.

Alternatively, if you don't bother to post feedback, don't be too surprised when a writer gets discouraged and doesn't share anything new.

Excellent post and point.

As someone who's made a few bucks with his writing here and there, I can say one thing. The feedback we get from writing for the community is our payment, if you will. Knowing that others appreciate our efforts and wish us to continue.

Now, not everyone likes every kind of story or every writer's particular style. But, if you've taken the time to read something and it is up your alley, let the writer know.

We all write for different reasons. Some of us want to share our fantasies with others, some of us enjoy the creative outlet, and for some (and you know who you twisted fucks are...oh...wait...heh 😉 ) it's even more than that. For some, writing is an extension of ourselves, the only recourse available when the demons take hold or the the voices' whispers become screams.

The creative element here is a rather unique bunch. A subset of the already complex sociology of the TMF, the most dedicated rarely venture beyond our little corner, our fantasies and imaginations rarely sated by the realities of clips and the like. Reality is easy, capturing the emotional and psychological drives within us all is a challenge. While we don't create for such mundane pursuits as popularity, the recognition for what we do create is valuable to us, especially from our peers...our fellow creative types. I've always believed that creativity trumps sociology, in step with my Randian belief of the individual's strengths against the group's collective manifestations.

Support your local writers, kids! Next to the little voices, you're the only thing keeping us going. :triangle:

When I post a story, I don't deign to impose a requirement upon readers that they comment, but I think that commenting is a kind and decent thing to do if you truly enjoyed a story. I generally do this for others.

The desire to thank some of the authors whose stories I enjoyed most was one of the things that inspired me to appear online in the first place.
