Ross decided to try and remain calm about the subpoena he had received.
Ross lied down, went to sleep, as Kayley called in sick that day to just relax with Ross.
At 10 am.. Ross's cell phone rang, predictably, with a call from none other than Ross's good buddy Timothy.
Ross rolled over, and answered the phone.
"Yes, Sir Timothy?" Ross said,.
"I'm guessing you have a copy of the subpoena?" Tim said.
"Thank You for not even saying "Hi, Ross, how are you? To answer your question, Timothy, yes, I have it, right here on the bed with me" Ross said.
Tim sighed.
Ross than said. "I have no choice but to comply with it. However, just so that I will not make the wrong move, or say the wrong thing., I am going to have a consultation with a lawyer, and of course charge the consultation fee to you, Timothy, since you were the one who created this whole mess in the first place" Ross said, strongly and seriously.
"Ross, I could not give a damn what you charge to me! If that bitch Tiffany wants a fight, it is a fight she is going to get! All she is , is an airheaded spend thrift housewife with no brain. I will drag her through the courts for as long as it takes and leave her with no settlement and no alimony!" Tim said.
Ross cackled. "That is not realistic Timothy, with a company worth a half a billion dollars or more, and a personal income of ten million or more, the airheaded spend thrift bitch as you call her, might well get a significant settlement, and you will get hit with a major amount of alimony every month. My advice would be for you to get a very calm lawyer to try and talk to Tiffany and her lawyer and calm them down With the mood Tiffany is in right now, it would not surprise me a bit if she hired a "Shark" lawyer as they call them, just to drag things out and have someone who can get to you, issue threats, and tie you up in court" Ross said.
Tim sighed "Okay, let me just clear my head"
"That would be a good idea. Let me get dressed, get into the office, and then once I go through some paperwork and things, I will see what I can do to find you a good, calm, levelheaded lawyer for us both to explain the situation to. After that, I comply with the subpoena, give them the paperwork demanded, and hope that your lawyer can get you the best deal and settlement possible" Ross said.
"How did you suddenly become so calm and rational?" Tim said.
"Simple, I very nearly lost the most important person in the world to me, and have been through so many personal and business wars, I realize that sometimes it is best to negotiate the most realistic deal possible even if you don't get everything you want, rather than shoot for the moon, and end up shooting the moon, if you know what I mean" Ross said.
Ross hung up, and Kayley smiled at him and kissed him.
"Oh, Student, that was so, so good!" Kayley said.
Ross sighed. "Unfortunately, as you know because you went through it with me, between the wars I've gone through in business with George Borgier, Tazzio, losing the first RossShell, almost losing you and our marriage, I've made some terrible judgements in life that have almost cost me everything. So far Tim has not done that, but if he is not very, very careful, he might now. I'm, going to try to negotiate him through this, both for himself, and for us" Ross said.
"Ross, have you thought about what you are going to do, if Tiffany and Tim really get into it, Tiffany drags Tim through the mud, and Tim goes under?" Kayley said.
"Yes , I have. Why do you think it is that I am buying up all of these tiny companies? Worst case, if Tim goes under, and it does not make sense for me to keep RossShell anymore, I file for bankruptcy with RossShell, which will not be the major hassle it was last time, close up RossShell, try to combine all these tiny companies I'm buying into as few as can be, have as many people working for me, I become CEO of one or two of them, and the Oil and Gas is still my priority,, while we still love each other, and while I still fuck you several times a week, and then, when you are ready to retire, we look at everything and I figure out what to do then" Ross said.
Kayley kissed Ross again. "Oh, You are Sooooooo Good! Your screw ups of the past have really taught you how to act in business" Kayley said, almost beaming.
Then Ross said. "Honey, don't panic if a process server comes with an actual lawsuit from Tiffany or her lawyers. She is so angry right now , and views me as "On Tim's side" that she might try to cause trouble for me for no other reason than to lash out at me. If I give her the required information her lawyers ask for, and this still drags on, I can inquire if I can sue her for harassment, etc" Ross said.
Ross dragged himself out of bed, into the shower, then put on jeans, and a polo,. and kissed Kayley goodbye.
"I promise I will be home by late afternoon at the latest. I just want to make some calls to find out who a good lawyer is to help me answer the subpoena and not to say or do the wrong thing. I get a chance to have time to give an actual answer to the subpoena and then a time limit or frame is set. I intend to use those wisely and to my advantage," Ross said.
Ross went into the office with the subpoena in his briefcase, called some people he knew, and then called a lawyer of an old marketing friend whom he had known when he had the old RossShell.
The lawyer got on the phone , surprised.
"Ross, long time no talk, how's Miss Kayley?" The lawyer said.
"Just fine. How are Jane and your family?" Ross said.
"Excellent,. How can I help you?"
"Well, Tim's personality has finally caused Tiffany to lose her temper and file for divorce. I just got a subpoena for all of Tim's financial records . I just want to send this to you to ask you how I should proceed,. and then you contact these people and say all the right things for me. Oh, and by the way, whatever your fee is, send all of your bills and charges to the office of Timothy Patrick. He is the one who caused this whole problem in the first place!" Ross said.
"Yes., Sir, Mister Ross. We will keep in touch" The lawyer said.
That day, Ross sat in the office, trying to hypothetically figure out what would happen if Tim and Tiffany's divorce either caused Tim to go under completely, to lose half of his company in a divorce settlement to Tiffany that might cause them to sell both halves, If Tim had to sell his company to give Tiffany a cash settlement and then not to need Ross anymore, and all other "Worst Case Scenarios"
In the meantime, Ross kept scouting for and buying small companies as the days went along.
Ross figured that, realistically, eventually, either, if Tim got out of the mess and still had his company even in lesser form, Tim would still need Ross, although to a lesser extent, and RossShell would still exist in a smaller form. If Tim went under, Ross might just close or sell RossShell, combine any number of the smaller companies, and have a number of lesser accounts with the oil and gas as his priority.
This time, Ross was not in any "Hot Water" with Kayley, because not only was their relationship better personally, but Ross was being honest with Kayley about his business moves. Kayley knew about all that was going on with the oil and gas, Ross's buy ups of the lesser companies, and now, the potential mess that the Patricks divorce might cause , and the effect it would have on Ross and RossShell's business, and all the other angles.
That week, Ross was just in New York, spending time with Kayley, communicating with his lawyer to deal with the answer to Tiffany's lawyers, and figuring out the new road for all of his work except for the oil and gas, which was still on track, in case Tim was not included in that work, or was included in a much less significant way.
Another OKC trip was coming up in one week while all this was going on.
What would happen with Tim, Ross, and the subpoena?
All that would be seen.
