... of Easton, Pennsylvania, for winning the 2006 US Highland Games championships at the Bethlehem Celtic Classic festival last weekend.

Yes, that's the sport where great brawny lads in kilts throw tree-trunks and such. (Am I the only fan of this sport here?)

Bailey, the local favorite, won the title on the last throw of the last event, the 28-pound wight-for-distance throw. Bailey trailed Californian Ryan Vierra by a mere 13 points in the decathlon scoring system as he stepped up for his third and last throw. He had to better Vierra's 83ft4in throw by over a foot to win (they were competing for roughly a point an inch in this event). His throw was 86ft4.5in, giving him the victory by 20 points, 8712 to 8692.

Vierra has previously won the Bethlehem event 9 times, and earlier this summer won his fifth world championship. He's generally considered the best ever in the sport.

Bailey, an assistant middle-school principal, is a former collegiate track and football standout and played briefly in the Arena Football League.
