As their website says: Time To Party like it's 1992! The Pittsburgh Pirates ended their 21 year playoff drought last night.

Baseball fans know the last time the Pirates were relevant: One of the happiest baseball nights of my life. When Braves hitter Fransisco Carbrera, hit a dramatic two run, game winning single for the Braves, in the bottom of the ninth inning, of the seventh and deciding game, of the 1992 NLCS.

I was 22 years old then: Exactly almost half my life ago. George Bush Sr was just a few weeks from being defeated for the presidency by then unknown southern governor William Jefferson Clinton. That was a LONG time ago!

Congrats to them. I'm happy for the team, and their fans.

I am happy for the Pirates' fans, who hadn't seen a winning season in a long time, much less post-season play. :cheer:

But I'll be rooting against the Pirates if and when they face the Dodgers, of course. 😀

I don't have Alzheimer's honest.. I'm trying to remember the last time the Dodgers won the World Series.. I can't rem.. remember.. hmm.. wait a min.. seems.. seem.. aah yes.. now I remember.. IT DID HAPPEN.. *blows dust off the Sports Almanac*

I'll say it one more time, so that even fans of the putrid motherfucking hated jnts can understand it:

The L.A. Dodgers have won 5 World Series Championships and the putrid motherfucking hated S.F. jnts have won 2.

To answer your question, the L.A. Dodgers last won the World Series in 1988. Going backward in time, also in 1981, 1965, 1963, and 1959.

Just for the record, how old are you?
Do you truly believe that history began the day you were born? That is a bizarre attitude and will not serve you well in life.

They have to get past the Braves first!
Indeed so, and anything can happen in a best-3-of-5 series. Nevertheless, I will be rooting for my Dodgers and hanging on every pitch.

I do wish the Pirates the best of luck tonight against the Reds. I have long-standing grievances against that team from Cincinnati.

They've beaten the Reds three games in a row, so I think they can handle them.

The Braves-Dodgers should be the best DS matchup in baseball. Obviously the Dodgers have a killer rotation that will be hard to beat, but the Braves have a nice staff as well and an offense that is capable of lighting any pitcher up, or striking out 20 times. Easily the two best teams in the NL, but my guess is the Dodgers beat my Braves in five games

Your question suggests I may not be old enough to remember the last time the turd blue won a title. Therein lies my point.

And my point is that MLB has been around since 1876. If you don't care about its history, then aren't really much of a fan. But that's what I expect from the creatures who root for the putrid motherfucking hated jints filth.

It's not that I don't care about the past, I just refuse to live in it. This isn't the 80s anymore. I've moved on with life. I don't worry about dinosaurs when I decide to go out for lunch and they also have phones without cords these days.

Congrats to the Pirates who are leading 3-1 as I make this post.
