So, I just moved into a new apartment, and I have a room that is a dedicated studio, used just for bondage and tickling purposes. I have this awesome idea for bondage, in which my lee would be tied in a standing position, arms over her head, tied together (suspension wrist cuffs, probably), but the attachment point is what I need help with.

If anyone here is a contractor or into construction and could provide me with some advice as far as making something that I could hook or drill or whatever into the ceiling that would support, say, up to 200 lbs of struggling, ticklish weight?

I am very good with my hands, and I am very safe when it comes to things like this - ask anyone who knows my dark side - so don't worry about my inexperience being anything dangerous, that's why I am asking for help.

Any advice is appreciated!

you wanna obviously screw into one of your ceilingjoists. they should be set at 16'' on center. it's not that easy to find them but if you have access to the attic it'd be pretty easy. it also depends on how sturdy the joists are. if they're 2x8 or 2x10 you should be ok. if not you may need to add some extra wood.

You know I have seen some pretty neat looking suspension equipment online, those triangluar metal rigs that set up like a pyramid in minutes. I wonder if they are sturdy enough for what I have in mind...

You can also hang anchors on the side walls, and use 2x6s in them, and then suspend from those - the joist hangers should be properly attached to the wall, and to help
spread the load, you should put up two (or even three)

The wood can be painted however you want, the whole thing can be taken down and
with you when you move, and the holes easily replastered.

Give me a call if you like, I used to be a contractor and can explain how to best install anything!

Would those joist hangars be safe to support up to 200 lbs from the center of a joist spanning a 12' room?

If you have a beam finder, that will help you locate the exact position of the joists. If you are unsure of their size or they are smaller than has been suggested, you can always install a 2x8 cross beam, spanning 3 or 4 beams (4 is better). Secure it well and then do your suspension brackets from the center span of that. It will distribute the weight more evenly. Also, keep in mind that the tork of a struggling victim will be greater than the dead weight of a stationary victim and will require greater strength. You aren't just supporting weight. So, you want to be sure that it's well mounted.

One thing I've heard of someone doing is asking the local hardware store for advice on mounting one of those hanging two person porch swings and stating that it will need to support 500 lbs. That will more than account for the added tork of any struggling.

Another thing you want to do is check with the landlord about any restrictions on what you do/don't do with the space. Some will keep your security deposit for more than simple picture hangers...even if it's properly patched and repainted when you leave.
