Could my professor have a fetish?

I'm not sure if he has a fetish, but he's not very prudent. I teach college, and I know better to make any kind of reference, joking or otherwise, to students' physical features, especially with the word "sexy," and I know better than to get physically playful with a student, as in making the tickling gesture you describe. As a college instructor, I'm acutely aware of the fact that one inappropriate remark or gesture combined with a vengeful or hypersensitive student can spell doom for a teaching career, and that doesn't tickle.

you are 100% right. He didn't mean it in a bad way. the majority of my class are women and only 3 guys. what do you teach? The only reason it doesn't bother me or creep me out is because I am kinda into him. Hes lucky I guess that I am not some hypersensitive girl to run who's freaked out who will run to his superior.

I think that is a little bit over the top! He didn't even make a reference to a student's physical feature, he was talking about their shoes!

Rhinnon: Not over the top at all. Using the word sexy to a college class, in relation to either the features or the behavior of students in the class (including wearing shoes), is risky. There's a fairly good chance that nothing will come of it, but it's a gamble.

I can only say that I'm speaking from the inside. Maybe some other male college instructors feel safe making a remark like that--and obviously Jill's professor does--but I myself wouldn't. I'm not saying the average student would take offense; I'm saying there's always the danger of the exceptionally vindictive or sensitive student making an issue of something, and "sexy" used in any context is ammo for such a student. Again, I'm on the inside of this. I'm in that profession. My ass is on the frontlines. I'm careful to cover it.

I dunno about everyone else, but I find dropped glass and spilled chemicals extremely sexy in the lab area.
