Cowboy Bebop (barefoot) Faye Valentine

After the apparent success and praise of my Ed picture, I've proceeded to draw Faye as I said I would. Note however that this is simply line art and isn't shaded or completely detailed as usual. This is because I've been trying to color the picture using a computer program. While it has beared fruit and I did a somewhat decent color job, I'm not satisfied with the final colored product (as there are too many mistakes currently in my opinion), so I'm going to color it over again from scratch. I may or may not upload the "work in progress" unless theres a demand for it.

Anyways, like most of the characters I draw, this is my first time drawing Faye as well, and I hope I did her justice. I feel I did. 😎

Nice job of foreshortening on the feet and toes. The only thing that jars my eye is that the right breast seems like it should be behind her right calf since it is further away in space.

Thanks. 🙂 Although her right breast is supposed to look slightly pushed up; thats because its rubbing up against her leg. I understand how it would be hard to tell dimensions, depth, and distance without the shading and tones people are used to seeing in my artwork.

Okay...I see what your getting at. Man! Those must be some well endowed cartoon characters. Guess I'll have to try and watch the DVD. 😀

Anime, not cartoons. I'm guessing you're not fimiliar with japanese animation. And in that case, I'd highly suggest Cowboy Bebop as your first anime to watch. It would definitely help you set a standard for which animes are worth the time and which are not. 🙂

As far as being well endowed, thats common in anime, though some characters are almost flat-chested, and thats used for comedic or humor purposes. Faye does have fairly large breasts, but I've probably exagerated them a bit in this picture. That was not my intention, but its not like anyone would mind I would think. 😛

Yes...I am sadly lacking in my knowledge of anime. I do remember watching reruns of StarBlazers as a kid. I think it was known in Japan as Space Crusier Yamato or something like that. However I have been catching some anime late night on Adult Swim on Nickolodeon. 🙂

Yeah, you named it correctly. Thats a classic of anime. I myself haven't seen it, I mean to someday.

Good. Any of the anime on Adult Swim is pretty good. The Big O is a lighter answer to Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Inuyasha is a good fantasy epic. Lets not forget Cowboy Bebop and Witch Hunter Robin. And of course there another classic- 'Lupin the 3rd'. Enjoy.

Although, there is a problem with watching Adult Swim. See, they air the shows from start to finish or up to the last few episodes and then play the show over again in a loop.

The problem is, if you are a new viewer of any particular anime, you may be watching episodes you aren't ready for or you're watching them in advance before watching them in order. So that could potentially spoil the plot and storyline for a viewer.

Right now for example, Cowboy Bebop is near it's end. So if you were to start watching it now, you'd be seeing the climax of the show, and thats no good. And I think that once a series runs through once or twice they put a new anime in its place and start that one from start to finish. So after several more episodes Cowboy Bebop may not me on anymore.

You could always buy it though, or try to rent it in order, by volume.

I've been catching a few episodes of Inu Yasha. Even though it's apparently in the middle of it's run on Adult Swim I don't mind watching it just for the sake of it's artistic merit and layout artist eye candy. 🙂 Also seen one episode of Witch Hunter Robin. Powerful art and sense of style.

Fortunately Inu Yasha recently started over again, so if you've been watching the last few episodes you haven't missed anything or have been watching anything you weren't supposed to yet. And Witch Hunter Robin made its debut on Adult Swim not too long ago. Its still only a few episodes in. 🙂
