I vote for the "???" British crop circle hoaxers "out" themselves on this site: http://www.circlemakers.org/

They've got way too much time on their hands. Still, this is a relatively benign hobby - they could have painted their butts blue and joined a protest march for the cause du jour instead, like Globalization, Kyoto Treaty, Bush's visit, etc.

Crop Circles

In 1979 strange circles started to show up in farmers fields in the U.K. These circles and patterns were created by flattening out the grain or what ever crop was selected at the time. Immediately UFO zealots claimed that the patterns were created by extra terrestrial in an attempt to communicate with us. As the years went on the patterns became more complicated and as a result the UFOlogist used the complicated patterns as "proof " that they were to complicated to be created by humans.
The crop circle episode came to a head in 1992 when two British gentlemen, Doug and Dave, confessed to creating the first crop circles after a night in the local pub and after a few to many pints of Guinness. The proponents of the crop circles stated that the circles created by hoaxers were different than the ones created by extra terrestrials, so a local newspaper hired Doug and Dave to create another circle. After the circle was completed the circle experts were called in to investigate, and investigate they did, declaring the circle created by Doug and Dave the real thing, so much for circle experts.
A excellent show was aired on NBC recently called UNMASKED, in one segment they showed how easy it was for a three people in as little as six hours and a few very simple tools to created a very complicated looking pattern.
After all the evidence is in there are still people who refuse to accept the obvious that the circles are terrestrial and not extra terrestrial in origin. These are the types of people who will not let the facts get in the way of a good story or book deal. I think that if ET wants to communicate with us they should drop by for a cup of coffee and say hi, because if they are tring to get ahold of us through crop circles, they are going about it the hard way.

Who knows........

I think...

that the crop circles are caused by farmers who secretly grow the wacky weed in bizarre shapes in their fields. The aliens swoop down for a good party and then buzzzzzzz away. The farmers are too embarrassed to admit their stash has gone up in smoke, so they flatten the crops surrounding the missing laughter leaves. The aliens are at fault, but they are not trying to communicate. They just use the earth as a source of good munchie power.

Go ahead, crunch all you want, we'll just grow more!

Hmmm.......

I think people get way too paranoid about whatever might be above and beyond. I don't see what the big deal is. If there just so happens to be "intelligent life out there", what would change? I mean, obviousy if we run into hostilities, but honestly? I think that if there were intelligent life out there they would have dropped by to say hi and smoke a peace pipe already! Either that, or we're too dumb for them to have to deal with. I always wonder if we're those really annoying unintelligent neighbors. The aliens always take detours to other planets because they don't want us to see them. "Oh crap honey, the earthlings saw us again." "Quick! Roll up the windows and get off the next exit!" That just makes me laugh. Crop circles are a bunch of punks playing a prank on people who get all hyped up about it. It's like those damn UFO movies, come on you can see the strings!

Doug Bower and Dave Chorley have a lot to answer for. I don't agree with Strel that it's a benign hobby. These two twats and those who seek to emulate them have caused thousands (if not millions by now) of pounds in criminal damage. Those who fake crop circles are doing it at the expense of farmers corn.

The movie Signs dealt with the same thing, about crop circles. I truly believe that it is a sign from terrestrial means of communication. You have got be arrogant as hell to believe we're the only living things in this universe. These are signs that something is up. Watch out. We could have signs of existence from other worlds soon

Hey, I believe in the possiblity of Extraterrestrial life, but I don't think they wast their time making crop circles.

I agree with Iggy pop. I'm a firm believer in the existance of EBEs (extraterrestrial Biological Entity). I believe in "missing time", government conpiracies, and alien abductions (as well as some other things). I am by no means however obsessed with these topics nor am I gullable. I agree with most of you that these particular crop circles are a hoax. Humans want for things of this nature to happen so bad, they go out and do it themselves.

"Morgan, this is just a prank by a bunch of 30 year olds who have never had a girlfriend in their lives. They create secret codes, study up on greek mythology, and create their own secret socities so that other nerds can join in. They do stupid crap like this to feel special! Its a scam!"- Marill Hess

"Its probably just broken Morgan, maybe some new batteries?"- Grahm Hess (Mel Gibson)

"But we'll lose the signal!!!! (is refering to an alien communication)"- Morgan Hess

".......sigh.....this is exactly what the nerds want!"- Marill Hess

(From the movie "Signs")

Please don't quote me on the accuracy of the quotes, its been a while since I've seen that movie, but I felt sharing this part with everyone fit the mood. ^_______^

Like Iggy, NT and Celt, I do believe in the existence of other life-forms. I also believe in the abduction phenomena, although I'm not certain just where they come from. Another planet? Another dimension of existence? Just don't know, they're not very forthcoming. However...

I don't think people appreciate just how spectacular a pattern it's possible to create sometimes in the corn. There are some which truly defy explanation, such as the foetally shapped DNA strand that appeared near Stonehenge a couple of years back, and I choose not to debunk them, because I just don't know how they were done. Not with a plank, a cap, a loop of wire and a length of rope though, probably. Just be careful you don't let your wishes and your imagination run away with you.
