So I'm a little ahead of the game but I wanted to beat anyone when they start the NL Division Champ thread down the line 😉

:mhorns: Her we go Cubs fans, here starts our march to the big show.

Let's hear it for our boys here in Chicago. I just ordered my NL Central champ cap and haven't shut off the Post Game show... can't get enough!

Go Cubs Go!

Congratulations to the Cubs. 😀

Of course, I hope the Dodgers meet them in the NLCS and win. 😀

Hopefully, some foul ball grabbing idiot in left field won't mess your World Series run!

I know absolutely nothing about pro baseball. I live in Toronto, which explains that.

Nevertheless, I really hope the Cubs win the Series this year. I really do.

You should say hopefully pitching wont choke and infielders can make routine plays, not some fan being there

Chicago v. Chicago?

Get ready for that giant radioactive crater by Lake Michigan...if Northside meets Southside in October.

If it plays out, get ready for World War III.

Actually, depending on the wildcard situation, cubs may play the NL west in the first round

If the season ended today, the Cubs would play the wildcard Mets and the Dodgers would play the Phillies in the first round.

I'm rooting for a Cubs/Rays World Series. Two good teams with interesting storyline potential, for sure.

ironically too, last time they met and the sox won, the cubs had the best offensive team possibly in their teams history and the sox were terrible at hitting, which is just about the same currently

It'd be cool to have a "Red Line" world series.

I just won't be able to leave my apartment. The city will be ridiculous.

Go Cubs. 🙂

Cubs will blow it. They always do. Don't believe me??? Ask the 1969 New York Mets. Ask the 1984 San Diego Padres and ask the 2003 Florida Marlins. Remember Cubs fans, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Oh and by the way, isn't this manager the same manager that couldn't win with Tampa Bay??? Is Lou trying to say Joe Madden is a better manager than he is??? Maybe!!! 😕

The only problem i see is if they end up not winning the series, they(fans\media\etc) will fabricate some bullshit story deflecting blame from the player and blaming either the weather, a "curse" or a fan or something, because tribune cannot blame itself can it?

Also a cub\sox series would be good for the olympic committee to say NO to olympics in chicago. Chicago can barely manage its CTA and with a corrupt cook county govt, this series would effectively show why the olympics would be a disaster

Times change, people change, situations change. We will win this year. This team is more balanced, and much better than those teams that disappointed. The manager we have is a proven winner who in the last two years have taken two Cubs teams to back to back playoffs, and research shows the last time thats happened, the Cubs won it all. I like our chances this year, as this team is more balanced and deeper than any team we've had in a long long time.

I can care less what the naysayers think. And while we're at it, let's not talk about blowing it, shall we? If I recall, my team last year didn't lose a 7 game lead with 17 to play did we? And you're on the verge of blowing it again, this year. And yet, your GM gets rewarded with a 4 year extension....interesting

Worry about your own team bubba, it seems that's hard enough for you to do anyways

When was the last time your team visited the World Series??? Has it been in the last 40 years??? Hey while you are researching the last time the team went to the postseason back to back. Can you remind us how long ago that was??? In fact answer this, has your team won a World Series in your lifetime??? Mine has TWICE. Has your team been to the World Series in your lifetime??? Mine has FOUR TIMES. Can you say you have seen your team reach the World Series four times??? For some stranger reason NT, I sense SILENCE. Because your team has been the definition of FAILURE over the last 100 years. So let's see if you answer those questions I put to you. You probably won't because your answering those questions honestly would mean I am right and your long rich history has seen you team come up short way too many times.

Yeah, my team blew a 7 game lead. But I can honestly say my team has won 2 World Series in the last 40 years. Remember Victor Diaz from 2004. Didn't your team lose out on the Wild Card by blowing a 3 1/2 game lead in the final 9 games??? Including losing 8 straight??? So before you talk last season, remember your team is made up of failures. Oh and we didn't blame a goat. We didn't blame a black cat. We didn't blame Steve Bartman either. You guys have been so full of excuses. If your team's excuses were shit you would be able to fertilize America. 😱

Heh mets also nearly had the worst record in baseball history despite the 2nd highest payroll years ago.

Blame guru Manuel if the mets tank this year 🙂

I deal with your post every day at work so I'll leave my rebuttle to all that at the office. The post was to cheer on my team but thanks for your input.

Funny, Mets are my 2nd favorite team, it hurts only a little in seeing us kick them out of the Wild Card. Go luck though.

Hey DK, I am actually happy for the Cubs and their fans. If you are a Cubs fan you have perserved a good long time. I am just trying to do a public service and annoy Natural Tickler. Since he came out here after my initial post, I would say, job well done. Also take note he DIDn't answer my questions. :wavingguy

The answer to your question: No, my team hasn't been to the World Series in a while. But of course everyone knows that, so to continuously bring that up, is rather redundant. Next, since I came into this world in '71, I can only talk about the teams since then. Congratulations, your team won two titles....congrats again, you saw four World Series.

You see, just because my team hasn't made it, doesn't make them failures. If you look at our franchise as a whole, we have a winning record...just haven't won a title since 1908. And because my team hasn't won since 1908, doesn't make me or any other Cubs fan less of a fan, or our team as losers. It just didn't happen. I am not gonna stop watching baseball just because my team hasn't won

But since you are labeling, then since your team hasn't won in 22 years, then I guess yours is a failure too then huh? Now you see how silly you sound? A little taste of honey is worse than none at all, and unlike you, I don't have to go way back to talk about another team's "failures". I can see yours right here. Soon to be two years of collapses, that is worse than mines not making it in a century. You see, I have no problem saying my team hasn't won in that timespan, because history can be changed

But then again, your obvious intent was to annoy...which you have failed to do. You will NEVER get silence out of me...you're not good enough

The next problem you have is that you are lumping me into some of the excuses that people have used, and insinuating that I am using these excuses. That is an insult. I have never used those excuses. we have talked baseball on the phone countless times, and I have never once used that excuse. I don't believe in curses, goats, cats, and all that other mess. Yes, I live in Chicago, but don't share the sentiment that others have used. If my team lost, they lost. i don't look for excuses, I look for ways for them to get better

And however long my lifetime is, and I hope to God its a long time, I will see some Cubs championships, and it will start this year

I hope to God the Mets make the playoffs, so when we send them home, it will put an even bigger smile to my face

For someone who is happy for Cubs fans, you have a funny way of showing it

and now back to regular programming

Oh yes. I did annoy. Because you tried to defend your team. And if not winning isn't failure what is it??? If losing was a barometer as to how GREAT a team was, you guys would be the greatest team of all time. But in this case, failure isn't success turned inside out. You guys FAILED. JUST AS MY TEAM IS DOING SO DOWN THE STRETCH AGAIN!!! But you can rest assure, the Mets fans will not blame a billy goat or Steve Bartman or any curses. We Mets fans don't make excuses. We lose. We blame OUR team for it's failures.

You failed to tell us when your last World Series appearence was.

And as far as NOT getting you silenced because I am not that good, message to you STRAWBERY SHORTCAKE--- I am that GOOD!!!

Much respect for the cubs, I personally hope they can pull it off. Now that I am thinking about it, I'd love to see a Cubs/Rays World Series. New vs. old, both with a lot to prove ... although lets face it, it would be a hell of a lot more sweet for the Cubs and their fans.

I don't even care about the Cubs as a team winning it all, I feel for the fans. There are a lot of them out there who have suffered long enough.

Plus, I love Wrigley Field

While I congratulate the Cubs on winning the NL Central Division and having the most wins in the whole NL, I must say that now I'm rooting against them, of course. Go, Dodgers. 😀

I think the concept should be addressed that cub fans vs fans who like the cubs because they are the team to love

Its the same for notre dame(whom of which ive rooted for since growing up)
Notre dame has done nothing special since god knows when, yet they are the team to love and root for because "GO IRISH!" and they have mad publicity despite being a conference-less team

The same can be said for the cubs. You have WGN broadcasting them world wide and tribune Co(for now) glorifying a team that loses. With new management, they finally broke that stigma saying they want to win a title which is the right thing to do. If the cubs do not win the series, to be blunt, the season is a failure, but i can guarentee you you will have more than half of "cub fans" say "Oh, im just happy they made it this far!"
Thats stupidity, if your team does not win the world series, your season is a failure, you dont play for a playoff berth, you play to be #1
These same fans are similar people who will shell out shit ton of money to sit on a rooftop and not watch the game to, as i directly quote from a tv interview from a guy "I just wanna say i was here"

Will the cubs advance? We'll see, any team that plays them needs to split at wrigley and will have a chance.

As for wrigley, i dont know why a field should be glorified for falling apart(nets to hold back falling concrete)

As for WS predictions
My honest guess would be phillies vs AL central(twins or sox at the current moment). Both teams will be entering the post season hot and rolling while other teams have already put it in neutral to coast into the post season. Had the mets held on, i woulda bet on them for NL
