I don't mean the silly re-make, i mean the original with Kathryn Ross..i've been watching it again and always i ask myself that these men must not have loved their wives at all to replace them with robots..No personality, no soul..just a perfect female who loved to clean, took great care of her children, thought her husband was God...and what was super funny to me was the fact that all of these men already had drop down dead gorgeous wives, much more attractive than any of them..Who were they to decide that their wife, although beautiful, was not quite good enough for them? Who would want a person who has nothing substantial to contribute to a conversation..whose vocabulary did not include the word "archaic"..and above all..would not ever grow old..the men would age..their wives still would appear the same..but obviously still worshipping the ground the man walked on..What type of man is it that, knowing that in order to get this perfect "spouse", it would be at the cost of his real wife's life? Isn't part of marriage growing old together? I believe it would be a depressing sign of my mortality to realize that although i'm growing older and will eventually die, my "spouse" will still be young and gorgeous..What happens to these wives after their husbands die? Also i wondered..did the children not think anything of the sudden change in their mother?
I once had a friend who tried to convince himself that Kathryn survived..that she played along with the charade..that when you looked into her eyes at the end of the movie, you could see emotion..fright..it was wishful thinking on his part..
I tried to order the book but alibris messed up..i believe i'll try with Amazon..my mom had told me that the book was even more thrilling..
