Before I go any further, I'd like to say that I have been and will always be a diehard bears fan. Da bears.
There have been plenty of bone head moves in the past but this season really seems to be taking the cake.
We'll start preseason where they have the opportunity to do a tiny bit of improvement on an OL that allowed Jay Cutler, a rather valuable investment, to get sacked the most in the NFL last year at 52. That's about a sack for every week in the year. They pickup Gabe Carimi in drafts. That's it on the OL. Adding a whole one player to the roster is really going to change a lot.
Let's cut Greg Olsen, a productive TE. I'll throw away an Olin Kreutz while I'm at it. Who needs to spend an extra few hundred thousand when we've got a bunch of guys that can fill in for him? Like... And... Oh and we can keep Matt Forte in line by not offering any kind of contract extension while bickering over his value as he appreciates in value.
Soldier field. I love the field. Let's keep the field natural grass forever. When opposing teams, your own players, and even fans start to support the idea of switching to turf; simple denial will solve everything.
Following a loss to the reigning super bowl champion packers team who knocked you out of the super bowl race in 2010, the GM reassures fans that everything in the franchises power has been done to ensure the Bears the best chance of victory in 2011. One addition and one subtraction is hardly all that's within your power. I think I did more changes in my fantasy team last year in one night than the Bears have this off season.
Week 4: Woot we beat Cam Newton with the help of an incredible TD return by the man himself, Devin Hester. Matt Forte also contributing a great deal of yards toward the win as well. Let's sweat Forte a little bit more on the contract.
Week 5: Detroit Lions. A serious contender for the NFC title is coming to town with Bear meat on his menu.
I'm calling week 5 a do or die game for Chicago. Lions can win or lose and still be contenders for the NFC title. Will the Bears can show these young Lions who's really king of the jungle or will Jay Cutler be the succulent meal for a ravaging Lion's team with their eye on Aaron Rodgers?
Bears 30 - Lions 10 or else 12 more weeks of winter.
