I like Marvel, the drawings seem kind of gritty, I like that, and I like the characters better. X-men, Captain America, and my favorite Spiderman.

I haven't read a new comic in ages. Comic books are $2.50 a pop these days, and they're not publishing any worth that price to me.

My all time favorite is Iron Man. The one true Iron Man, Tony Stark, accept no substitutes. While he could hold his own in a fight with Thor or the Hulk, he wasn't born with his power like Thor nor did he acquire it by accident like the Hulk. He is a truly self-made hero.

Planetary, Tom Strong, Ex Machina, JSA, Human Target, She-Hulk, Hard Time, Captain America and the Falcon, Fables, Daredevil ... your choice, but I think you're missing out on some great stuff.

Me, I'll read anything. And there's a lot more than Marvel and DC out there, y'know.

Favorite superhero? Well, I always liked the Blue Beetle, but the hero who I have the most issues of is the Flash. (And when I say the Flash, I mean Wally West, not Barry Allen.) I always liked the idea of having superspeed ... and no, not because of the tickling possibilities.

DC is far superior to marvel, and my favorite Superhero is The Flash. I've been reading his comics for a few months now, and they are incredible. next would be Superman.

Hmm... Wolverine! He's canadian (heh), I really dont know much "aboot"🙂P) marvel comics, but from what I've seen, that dude is INSANE!!

A couple of those were on my buying list when I stopped, but I find I don't miss them.

So it's Captain America and the Falcon again, is it? Groovy! Who's writing it these days? I know it won't be as good as the Steve Englehart days, but still...

Growing up, my faves were always Spiderman and The Human Torch. Spiderman got really interesting during the Venom/Carnage days...and I hope this arc shows up in a future film.

My only problem with Superman is it uses no imagination, the definition of a metropolis is a big city, and the city is called metropolis (duh). And he had to be from a small town in the middle of nowhere, the name, Smallville. SMALL-VILLE. The name of the newspaper, The Daily Planet. No Imagination.

Well I do read up on the son of Jor-El aka Superman😛 Also read JLA and Green Lantern I used to read Spiderman sometimes, depending upon the villian But after that clone saga I stopped

I also enjoyed reading the DC war comics like Sgt Rock and The Haunted Tank

Daredevil is my favorite DC superhero
Not to nitpick, but Daredevil is a Marvel character. His nemesis, the Kingpin originally appeared in Spider-Man and if I'm not mistaken was drawn by John Romita (senior). Clearly Daredevil's best run was during the reign of Frank Miller.

My favorite Marvel hero is Spider-Man. My favorite DC hero is Superman. My opinion is that in the 70's and early 80's Marvel was superior to DC. Better characters, more interesting story lines, etc. But toward the mid 80's DC seemed to take the bull(pen) by the horns and started cranking out some really good stuff, surpassing Marvel in all manner of excellence.

DC gets credit for putting out my favorite comic series of all time. It was a 12 issue limited series called The Watchmen written by Alan Moore and drawn by Dave Gibbons. If you've never read this, I can't recommend it highly enough. It examines the concept of costumed heroes like nothing else I've ever seen. It's been reprinted several times in a single volume so it ought to be readily available.

My second favorite series of all time was Mage by Matt Wagner. Mage is a trilogy of three 15-issue limited series. The first series was The Hero Discovered that ran from 1985-87 from Comico Comics. The second series was The Hero Defined which ran from 1997-1999 from Image Comics. The third series will be called The Hero Denied which I'm still waiting for. Again, great stuff that I couldn't recommend more highly.

Hmmm. I now do seem to recall the kingpin starting in Spiderman, but I seriously thought Daredevil was a DC comic. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for the correction. And even though I still stand by Marvel as the best, it's because of the characters. DC's stories are better.

DC all the way, and i gotta add the dark horse comics. x-men, spawn, spiderman, daredevil. i should add marval too.

I agree. Marvel has great characters. Not only great heros but great villains as well. My personal favorite Spider-man villain was Mysterio, the master of illusion. I totally dug his costume with the green body suit and the purple cape with an eye over each clavicle. Top that off with the translucent glass helmet and you've got the coolest costume Steve Ditko ever created!

Drew, Mysterio is your favorite Marvel villain? I don't believe it, you and I agree on something. He's always been my favorite too, and I totally agree on the costume.

it's a shame he's not included in the Marvel Legends Sinister Six action figure collection, because they've never produced a Mysterio action figure that got his costume quite right. The HeroClix is very cool, though, just very small.

Comics

I know next to nothing about comic book characters. I've seen more comic-based movies than I've read comic books. But, I can't resist going with a few favorites, notably Magneto. Also, if you're including graphic novels in this, the Crow. Finally, Sandman.

Omg, did I used to collect comics... 😀

Spider-Man was my favorite, but I bought Superman, Captain America, the various X-Books, Thor, and a bunch of other stuff, too.

My favorite, though, was Marvel's "Infinity Gauntlet" mini-series. I read that thing god-only-knows how many times... 😀

It's been ages since I've read one, but Superman was always my favorite. (If you can find the book, The Death and Life of Superman , don't pass it by).

I liked Batman, also.

I like Batman, no powers, except a LOT of money. The story of how he got started is cool too.

Has anyone ever read, the Superman comic, Red Sun? He's a communist leader, of course he sees the er of his ways before the end, it was awesome, it was an alternative comic with just one edition, but it was good.

Superman: Red Son is what DC calls an "Elsewordls" story, i.e. an imaginary setting. Some of them are really interesting, others not so.

My favorite was "Batman: Holy Terror", which places Batman in a setting where the United States is a theocracy, run by a merciless, iron-fisted Catholic Church. Spooky.

Oh man, I love comic books even more than I love tickling! Forced to choose between DC and Marvel, I would have to give the slight edge to Marvel. I think they both have a tremendous amount of classic characters, but Marvel gets the nod because their stories are based more in the "real world." The stories take palce in cities that actually exist, and the stories themselves tend to be more realistic. Anyone looking for a "real world" take on super-heroes, I can't recommend Daredevil, as written currently by Brian Michale Bendis, highly enough. This is one of the all-time great comic book runs, and while i may get slapped for this and called a heretic, I think this run is even better than Frank Millers. Now, on to the characters:

Marvel:
Daredevil: My favorite super-hero, and the current creative team is out of this world.

Spider-Man: Who deosn't love Spider-Man?

Captain America: The ultimate "always does the right thing" character. The most moral man in the Marvel universe, and the most respected.

Fantastic Four: Probably my favorite super-hero "team" even though they are depicted more as a family.

Nightcrawler: My favorite X-Man who FINALLY got his own solo series.

The Multiple Man: I just LOVE this character. He has a 4 issue mini-series going on right now, hopefully it will be succesful and they will give him a monthly.

Iron Man: My favorite hero when iw as a kid, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him.

Moon Knight: An awesome character with great potential who just needs the right creative team behind him to be a breakout star.

And at DC:

Batman: I like him almost as much as Daredevil. He's the reason I got into DC comics at all. Just an awesome character who has had some terrific stories over the years. Did anyone read No Man's Land? THAT was one of my favorite stories ever, in comics or otherwise.

The Flash: I never really liked the Flash much, but the very lengthy run Geoff johns has had writing the book has brought me around, and now it's one of my favorite reads each month.

Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner version of GL. He seems to have just taken off into space to find his place in the universe, because DC is bringing back Hal Jordan. I'll have to wait and see how the new direction goes, but I'm hoping it is good.

Robin: He's become much more than Batman' sidekick, is becoming a hero in his own right.

Teen Titans: A great title, with great characters. Probably my favorite DC team.

Blue Beetle: I love comedy acts written correctly, and Blue Beetle (with booster Gold, naturally!) is one of the best.

X-Force
X-Men(and the variations)
Iron Man
War Machine
Warlock
Batman(probably the only DC hero I actually like)
Vision
Power Pack
