As I've posted on here before, I blog on the Atlanta Journal Constitution, in their sports blogs, about baseball, and basketball.

One of the columnists whose threads I blog in is Mark Bradley, a long time sportswriter, who has been with the paper for over 20 years.

Baseball fans are aware of the retirement of long time manager Bobby Cox, and the Braves hiring of Freddie Gonzalez as their new manager. Mark, who can be very contrary, and who I've personally nicknamed "Mister Negative". has written several articles in the last twenty four hours, since Gonzalez hiring was announced. Mark has strongly criticized the Braves hiring of Gonzalez, saying it was done "too rapidly", and that Gonzalez is too immersed in, to quote Mark, the "Braves way of doing things".

While the Braves havent been champions the last few years, the "Braves way of doing things" produced fifteen playoff appearances, and only two seasons under 500, in the past twenty years. So, I would say the "Braves way of doing things", that Mark talks about, is successful, and wouldnt be a bad thing to continue.. right?

Fans who blog on the site are infuriated at Bradley's multiple articles criticizing the hiring, and the "Braves way of doing things".

At the beginning of the season, Mark wrote a column analyzing the 2010 Braves, and said, and I quote "Bah humbug, third place". I told him my thoughts. I said that the Phillies should win the NL East easily, but that I thought the Braves would win the Wild Card. Well, who was right? The Braves, as baseball fans know, had a slew of injuries, and won 91 games, and the Wild Card, in spite of having Chipper Jones, et al, out for long periods.

I like Mark, as a person, and I respect his writing. I think he is intelligent, but I also think he can be contrary, and tend to anger fans.

I think the Braves will be successful with Gonzalez, and will contend for a Wild Card next year. The "Braves way of doing things" that Bradley talks about, will continue to generate what it has for most of the last 20 years, a competitive team, and success.
