Dialogue in Clips: too fake?

So you've just bought the latest interesting clip on C4S and you're getting into the action. The lee is cute and really ticklish and the ler is doing a great job exploiting this. All of a sudden, the lee says something like "Not the toes!" or "Oh God, that tickles so much!" in that fake voice (you know the one) and your eyes begin to roll.

I love tickle talk. I love when girls mention their ticklishness while I tickle them. But in the professional world of tickling, mid-tickling dialogue tends to have a very unauthentic feel to it.

Maybe it's the fact that you hear the same lines over and over again, like the models were told "Make sure you say this at least once during the session!" before the cameras started rolling. Maybe it's that weird, semi-sincere and semi-uncomfortable voice they say it in.

So, clip viewers: How do you feel about dialogue in clips?

And clip producers: How do you usually handle this dialogue? Do you ever ask the girls/guys to say certain things during clips?

Delivery is key. Like, if someone is going "heh...heh heh heh.. oh my god, I'm sooooooooooo ticklish", that's a lie, and that not-ticklish bitch is taking me for a chump.

HOWEVER if they're really ticklish, they can say the most cliched, stupid things ever, and it's awesome. Works with lers too. Taylor Raz can say things that I would immediately consider corny if anyone else said it, but because she knows what she's doing and it sounds like she actually means it, stupid and cliched becomes awesome and adds a lot to the video.

Let's just say I definitely don't need dialogue in clips!

I agree with the starter of this thread. When it seems fake, it completely kills the clip for me. It's kinda like watching a really really bad movie where it's so bad, you start pointing out how bad it is (ex. why can I still see the mic in the shot?!!)

You mean like every single Tickle Central vid?

Yes, delivery IS key. I don't script ticklee responses, even though my scenarios are scripted, because the reactions have to be personal and in-the-moment. I do tell my girls to feel free to "go with what they're feeling" based on the tickling and the script, but beyond that, I fear that I'd risk the stuff sounding too "canned". My stuff is already campy, as is, but I have my boundaries. And frankly, anything that still sounds too corny gets edited out. I have a "Wince-O-Meter". If dialogue makes ME wince, I cut it. LOL!

I think that you hit on it as a quality/authenticity issue. what makes the difference in an "eh" clip versus excellent is the interplay between models. Someone like Cindi from tickle abuse or Dee makes a video 100 times better with their reactions, including begging. Same with a skilled ler and verbal teasing. When it is obviously fake, it is painful. When real, it makes things much better.

Taylor

This girl defiantly sounds genuine because i think she really enjoys tickling and is not acting like she does. Im sorry to say that i find that is the case with most of the f/f and ff/f tickle clips out there, with only a few exceptions. I love her tickle teasing and the way she is un merciful at times. More Taylor please

So, clip viewers: How do you feel about dialogue in clips?

I tend to watch clips with the sound turned off for this very reason. If there's not some terrible actress wannabe giving a melodramatic monologue on the utterly unbearable ticklishness of her poor helpless vulnerable size 10s, it's some idiot making stupid comments about "tickle surgery" or muttering creepily under his breath. :facepalm2:

Prya's my favorite model in recent times (curse you, unbearable fetish for Indian girls!) but I'll never forget that time in her debut clip when she looked at the cameraman while delivering one of her lines. My eyes rolled so hard I got a migraine.

Says it all for me so long as the ler knows when to back off and not feel they have to be verbal all the time.

On a related note, I disliked ticklers in videos who keep yapping and talking over the models who are being tickled.

I remember that guy from HangTen productions who spent more time explaining what he was going to do to the girl instead of actually DOING it.

I think the very worst thing for me is from one studio where the male ler sniggers like a schoolboy along with the lees genuine laughter, its probably involuntary but i find it extremely off putting. Its a shame cos in every other respect this is by far one of the better studios .

And clip producers: How do you usually handle this dialogue? Do you ever ask the girls/guys to say certain things during clips?

When making a video, the only direction I give to my models is don't hold back. I few times, I've had to stop shooting because she felt the need to ad lib something about "ooh, not my feet", etc. This is why I never speak in the videos; I don't want to encourage dialogue.

Two of our models, Alicia and Tina have this odd quirk where they react verbally to the ticklish sensations. Alicia will spontaneously mutter "ticklish" while she's laughing. You have to really listen for it to notice. Tina will shout out "oh, no!" when the tickling starts. Both swear up and down they don't realize they are doing it. Key is, it doesn't sound fake and insincere.

I haven't seen a lot of videos, but the ones I've looked at never made me think wow that's too much dialogue.

Generally speaking I strongly dislike scripted dialogue and don't use it in my clips. It makes me cringe when I hear it in clips other than mine, so I assume some of my customers may feel the same way.

However, an exception that I've made a few times is to take the tickler aside and ask her to encourage the ticklee to say that she enjoys being tickled and to ask/beg for more. This isn't mentioned to the ticklee beforehand. So while the tickler's request is partially scripted (though she doesn't have an actual script, just a general idea what to ask of the ticklee), the ticklee's reactions are spontaneous. We can't know in advance if she'll be amused, frustrated or horrified by it, whether she'll refuse to cooperate or will give in, etc. If she does give in, will she do so immediately, or only after being broken by the tickler, ironically hoping that by doing what the tickler asks of her the tickling might not be as long or as bad (despite the fact that she's actually encouraging the tickler to continue)? A ticklee can end up saying things that don't seem to make much sense if she's desperate enough. It's a fun mind game to play.

So anyway, yeah, in this case the dialogue may be guided in a general direction, though not fully scripted, especially as far as the ticklee's reactions are concerned. To tell the truth, I'm not entirely sure if this is something my customers enjoy. On the one hand, I'm sure there are people who love to hear a ticklee beg her tickler to tickle her feet some more, especially if that's clearly not what she truly wants. On the other hand, some people might not like the fact that the tickler was given general instructions as to what to ask of the ticklee. I haven't gotten enough feedback about this, and most of the shoots during which I've done this haven't been released yet. I just hope I didn't overdo it. Also, I've done it a couple of times with models who spoke French, and I now realize that while it might appeal to some, the teasing dialogue is/will be unfortunately lost on most of my customers. Oh well.

I've actually gotten a few of your French clips, and I don't feel that any of them were overdone. That said, I don't hear enough French to know what dialogue is immediately cheesy, but the delivery seems fine!

I feel like part of the issue with bad dialogue is that it's usually the only glimpse of the lee's personality we get. If her words seem fake, then it makes the girl herself seem fake.

More clips could do with unscripted 1-2 minute interviews at the start. Even if the girl says "I hate tickling and feet and I'm not that ticklish," at least it's authentic and adds to her personality. Otherwise, the clip just labels the model as "brunette" or "big-footed" or "ebony" or "milf," and that's all that ever distinguishes her from the other models.

These terms are fine, but I feel like it's better to have a lee who, after seeing her in a clip, you say to yourself "I really like her personality, not just the fact that she's ticklish or that she has nice feet. I'd buy more clips with her because of her character."

And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is so bizarrely demanding about the quality of my porn. haha

Thank you! Actually, if I remember correctly, so far I've only released one French series where I had the tickler do the "say you like it/beg for more" routine, so it may not be enough to determine if it sounds cheesy or not. I don't think it does, though, at least not very much. Maybe a bit forced if the tickler insists too much (which may have happened in a couple of the scenes I've filmed since my latest release), but probably not especially cheesy. It helps that the ticklee's reactions to the teasing are spontaneous, since she doesn't know in advance that the tickler is going to ask/force her to say those things.

The problem is twofold, really.

On one hand, you have producers who try and introduce a plot - such as it is - and either expects the models to improvise dialogue, or writes actual dialogue for them to say.

Improv is a skill that requires training and talent - and I'm pretty sure it's not on the resume of 99.9% of porn models. So you get stilted, forced, top-of-the-head dialogue from people who can't act.

Or, in the case of an actual script, it's not being written by a professional writer, so it's going to sound like creepy fetish garbage at best, or incomprehensible, embarrassing crap at worst. And then, it's still being delivered by people who can't act, most likely without any sort of rehearsal time to boot.

On the other hand, you get guys who're doing what you're doing - hoping to guide the dialogue, such as it is, towards a specific end by coaching the model in what to say. This is essentially the same as asking them to improv their own lines, which I've already touched upon.

Honestly? No model should be expected to "create". It should flow naturally, or not at all, IMHO.

I don't want vids that often but for the ones that I have seen, I recollect one in particular where the dialogue was so bad it. made my head hurt and as a result took away from actually enjoying the video. I guess not everyone can be good actors/actresses but I would at least think that being tickled would be realistic enough to not evoke fake banter between the lee and the ler. Bad acting is never good no matter how you look at it.

Fair enough. I should point out, however, that even if it does end up sounding forced (I don't think it's really that bad, but whatever), I've only done it for maybe 5 or 6 scenes out of all the hundreds I've produced. So I don't consider myself a producer who "guides the dialogue". I just thought that, in these few scenes, I'd have the tickler play a mind game with the ticklee, curious to see how the ticklee would react.

I'm not sure I understand that. If it flows naturally, isn't it "creation" of a kind, as opposed to spouting scripted dialogue?

IF the ticklee can have a full conversation while being tickled, slipping in a few HA HAs HO HOs and HEE HEEs......FAKE.
IF the ticklee seems as if she/he is reading from Cue cards...."Oh no please stop that tickles, Oh my god that tickles so much ho ho ha ha hee hee(to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time....).....FAKE
Begging in the midst of hysterical and or steady laughter...pleas for mercy and for the tickling to stop or just non stop babbling hard laughter.....GENUINE.
Threats of revenge when able to speak....threats by the tickler to never stop etc.......good dialog. Otherwise......merciless tickling and hard hysterical babbling laughter is all that is needed.
