TLDR: I get less ticklish (esp on my feet) when I am nervous. How can I maintain my ticklishness even when I am nervous?

Little bit of context: Growing up, I always knew that my feet was ticklish. So much so, that I could tickle myself sometimes! Even a few years ago, a friend of mine tickled me on my feet, and I felt it, pretty well!

However, last year, I had my first ever tickle session. I was very excited, and quite nervous. I got myself a pedicure 2 days before the session as well. During that session, I was toetied in stocks. When my ler tried to tickle my feet, it didn’t tickle. My ler tried everything, from fingers, to feathers, electric toothbrushes, etc. but it seemed like nothing even remotely got me to break. The only tool that actually tickled me was hairbrushes on oiled soles, but that’s about it.

The session actually was fantastic, mainly because my ler found that my UB, was quite ticklish (esp pits and nipples), and I have been a UB guy forever, so it kinda worked in my favour (more attention to my UB). However, I was thinking, how can I regain my ticklish feet? My ler told me that given this was my first time having a proper tickle session, and the fact that it was with people whom I did not know beforehand, my nervousness might have eclipsed my ticklishness. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them? And is there any way to overcome that?

Try thinking of pleasant experiences or anything you enjoy doing.

@aberdeen's idea of a blindfold is an excellent idea. It doesn't work for everyone (and in rare cases has the opposite effect), but it often enhances ticklishness and reduces anxiousness and self-consciousness.

Additionally, consider having the ler give you a massage beforehand. For some people, nervousness increases ticklishness, but since you suspect you're on the other side of that spectrum, getting comfortable with the person through them massaging you, and allowing your body to relax from it is definitely something I'd try. Also consider trying different types of music. It can take the awkwardness of silence out of the equation. Giving your mind and body something to focus on that feels closer to a normal state where you normally aren't nervous is a great way to actually get to that state. Before meeting up with a ler, tell them you're nervous. Let them help talk you through things that will help make you less nervous about the session before you ever even meet. Don't have caffeine or other stimulants before a session, as these can increase nervousness and anxiety in some people. Consider your environment for the session. If you're in a hotel or a thin-walled apartment complex where you are constantly worried about others hearing you, or just that you're constantly aware of others' presence, you're probably not going to relax. Make sure your bondage is comfortable. If it's not, that negative sensory feedback will be distracting and irritating, if only on a subconscious level.

None of this is medical, nutritional, or any other kind of professional advice. Consult your own healthcare professional before doing weird stuff you read on the internet, etc, etc. That being said, there are some OTC nootropics that are known to calm anxiety and generally make people more relaxed. One to consider off the top of my head is L-Theanine. Also, light exercise before a session can calm the body and the mind down and reduce a lot of tension. In addition, it can increase blood flow to all areas of the body, heightening sensitivity. Remember, light exercise. You don't want to be sore or tired for your session!

Also, something to consider is that it could possibly be another factor (I don't know how sure you are that it's nervousness, so I thought I'd throw this in here). I, for example, have ticklishness that Varies wildly from day to day. Don't know why, and wish I did, but I don't. Some people find that the temperature of their feet makes a difference. Ensuring feet stay moisturized leading up to a session makes a difference. Tickling is also a very, very psychological thing. The chemistry between lee and ler can make so much difference for some people.

Well, that's all the ideas I have for now. I hope something helps! Good luck to you! 🙂
