Did anyone else play the game "X Marks the Stop" with your friends when you were younger? I was telling a fellow tickle-phile on another forum about it and he had never heard of it. I just remember sitting around with my friends and doing this what seemed like hours back in the day ..... OK usually it was me going " Ok, do it again!" [giggles]

It went something like this you would have your back to the person you were playing with and they would do these motions on your back:

Here's an X (make an X on the other person's back)
That marks the spot (gently poke them in the lower center of the back)
With a dot, dot, dot (make three pokes horizontally across the upper back above the shoulder blades)
And a dash, dash, dash (draw three short lines down the center of the back with your index finger)
And a great big question mark (draw a question mark on the back, complete with the dot at the bottom)

Crack an egg (tap them on the top of their head with one closed-fisted hand)
Let it fall (open hand at the top of the head and lightly drag your fingers down the back of their head and the center of their back)
Chills go up (lightly drag your fingers up the center of their back)
Chills go down (lightly drag your fingers down the center of their back)
Chills go all around (lightly move your fingers all around their back)

Feel the breeze (say the words then gently blow air on the back of their neck)
Let it squeeze ( squeeze the back of their neck
)

A little quiver goes thru my body just reading it!

Think that I am making this stuff up?? Nope someone has even put it on a website collecting all the different versions of it....

Better question: who here DIDN'T?

Wow, what memories... My version ended, "a pinch, and a squeeze, and a cool ocean breeze... this is gonna give you the chills!" 🙂

A skill I value to this day...

I so remember this...definitely P_Bustletons version....maybe we have to try it again one day!

Ah! So I am not the only one that remembers this! Awesome! Yes I am should this was one of those "foundational" activities of my early years!

Jpie1 - I so agree need to have someone do this to me again!

HAHA! I loved to play this as a kid. My version was a bit different though.
X marks the spot
with a dot dot dot
and a dash dash dash
and a question mark

Stab them in the back
blood runs up blood runs down
little spiders crawling down your back

Cool breeze
Tight squeeze.

Hmmm maybe we were just morbid children.

My full version:

Going on a treasure hunt, X marks the spot
Three big circles and one big dot
A big question mark
Three steps up
Three steps down
Up, down, all around
With a pinch and a squeeze and a cool ocean breeze
This is gonna give you the chills!

My 4th grade crush had a version with "crack an egg on your head and the yolk is falling down." 🙂

Definitely time to bring that back at NEST - maybe we could do a freestyle competition?

All these variations are oh so delicious!! I will admit my favorite part was always "chills go up, chills go down, chills go all around"!! I will be quite envious if this competition does happen at NEST this year since I don't think I will be there.
😀

I never heard of or played this as a child. 🙁
What a deprived childhood I had.

lol first time someone did this to me I melted. Little puddle on the ground. I've always been a sucker for a good back scratch lol.

Ok enough people have answered that they did play this game when they were younger that I know it wasn't just a figment of my little brat tease 'lee imagination, oh and I did find the actual words on the web too!!! :laughhard:

hmm.. i've never actually done this as a kid, but i wish i would have lol...

Milagros and mtTicklemonster - Sorry to hear you never experienced this before now! I think you need to find someone to remedy this with ASAP! :evilha:

I've never played that game but I will be making a mental note lol.

There are many variations on this game.

TickleRelish - so what are these other variations - We must hear all about them!!!

:whisper:

I've never played that game but I will be making a mental note lol.

TickVix and everyone else - It would thrill me to no end to find out that my mere mention of this little ditty brought about a resurgence of it among tickle-lovers everywhere! 😉
