that shortly after the first World War..several countries got together and signed a document or something, proclaiming war against the law??? so what the hell happened to that law??

i just heard that more of our troops were killed over there..when will this war end?

also...i so hate politicians whose only ads attack the opposing candidate...and that is McCain..gesh

If it's true, then no, I didn't know that. Sheesh, we could lock half the world up with that one. Now we just need somebody to police the other countries and enforce it... 😛

Also known as the "Treaty of Versailles". it was effective for a while i guess

So i think it seemed like a good idea at the time 🙂

I should be the one to police the world.

If you think that LA riot cops are mean, oooh baby... I'll leave the leaders of the world in the hospital for months on end.

Then I'll throw them in prison. Ten thousand life terms for every life lost in a conflict.

Then I'll go to their house and raid their fridge. Drink their booze, watch their TV. Trash the place and then leave.

I so want this job.

I will play the lawyer here lol...

I assume that was made when it is an official war; as in war was declared by Congress.

Since the current war is not officially a war this document does not apply.

They also must have thrown this law out the window when Congress declared WWII, the last official war so far.

It was the League of Nations, formed after the Treaty of Versailles, which made the attempt to "outlaw" war. President Woodrow Wilson was a driving force in its creation, but it was a severe blow to the League when the U.S. Senate did not ratify membership. Russia and Germany were denied membership. The League had a number of early successes and failures, but was ultimately too weak to prevent the downslide to World War II.

The United Nations, created after WWII, has similar prohibitions and a similarly checkered record, lacking the teeth necessary to quell determined aggression, particularly when opposing Security Council members can exercise a veto. The capability and will of any nation/state to project power within its chosen sphere of influence is still the trump card to any multi-national "ban" on aggressive acts.

Law against war... it is like telling a man not to get sick... it is in our nature to be warriors, so there is no helping to those who can't resist the instinct...
