What do you think are the differences? What do you think vanilla ler's are good at and what do you think fetish/kink ler's are good at? And what do you think both are less good at or even bad at? And do you think gender has some influence?

I'm don't have much experience, so I'm curious about your experiences with both. That's why I ask. I think there has to be some difference, but I'm not sure what kind of differences it would be.

Good question. I take it by vanilla ler you mean people who tickle but aren't really into it? Like they just do it for a prank or to be silly, or maybe it's a content producer just doing it for the $? Those people just seem to poke and prod when they try to tickle, and they don't seem to know where or how to do it. I think when you have the kink/fetish it comes much more naturally to you, and you maybe just have a better intuition for it that way. As far as what vanilla ler's are good at and fetish ler's are bad at when it comes to tickling, not sure. Maybe vanillas come across as less creepy because it's clear they're just playing around while fetish ler's come across more creepy as they take it more seriously? Thinking about this is totally reminding me of the old Howard Stern show when they had Yaqi as a guest. 😆

This is actually a good question, and it causes me to think, I suppose working off the point yinzer made. If it’s someone who’s not into the kink, I suppose there is this feeling of more innocent, curiosity, to it, a more like seize the opportunity and moment, so it might not be the most well coordinated tickling but the surprise of it could catch the person their tickling off guard.

I suppose a kink ler, we have a bit of of an expectation, and I think that sometimes adds a bit of hidden pressure on us. Especially if the person you are tickling also has a tickle fetish. I found that anyway in my experience, silly I know but I do feel that weight at times. But at the same time, we also get a bit more out of it as per say, we perhaps enjoy it more than a vanilla ler, we take pleasure and satisfaction from our craft and we work hard to perfect it and it’s the best reward going when you get to share an experience with the person you have tickled and you both enjoyed it. That’s my take anyway 🙂

The people who've tickled me have been almost entirely vanilla folk (in fact, as far as I know, they've all been vanilla; if any of them attached sexual significance to tickling, they kept it to themselves). And an awful lot of them -- not all, but most -- have been devastatingly effective ticklers. And a robust subset of them have been surprisingly persistent and relentless.

Every woman I've ever tickled has told me I'm 'much better' at tickling her than others have been. Once you get over the hesitation/anxiety, you're likely to be more effective than most vanilla lers, simply because you've watched so many videos and you're into it. It's the same as any other activity - if you're really into something, you're probably going to be better at it than others.

This is all-things being equal of course, purely on tickling ability. Lees are going to react differently if they're attracted to their ler, more comfortable around someone, etc.

There are those that are very good at it and very bad at it in both categories, but I have no idea what the distribution would look like. I'm sometimes surprised at how someone very into tickling can seem so bad at it and how someone virtually uninterested can do it very well. I think there is a type of person that just has a better baseline intuition for it, but that intuition has no significant correlation with interest. I think one of the biggest factors that can apply to both categories is experience and exposure, which is often one of the most important factors in any skills-based activity (especially if high coordination is involved). Whether they've had a lot of experience being tickled can make a difference, as well as how much they've been able to tickle others. As time goes on, I'd assume the average active kink ler's skill would outpace the average vanilla. But the low activity lers in the tickling community are likely outpaced by the average vanilla ler. Other factors that probably influence skill for each category are:

Vanilla
  • They're not primed to feel awkward or embarrassed by the activity, thereby feeling less impeded.
  • There's no pressure or subcultural standard they are trying to hit–they're just doing the thing, not getting in their own head about it.
  • Many may feel less drive to tickle longer or more intensely.
  • They're likely not fixated on a particular spot.
  • The concept of tools (not that they are necessarily superior) is going to be less intuitive.
Ticklephiles
  • Tend to pay a lot of attention to technique.
  • Prone to trying to reproduce fantasy or exaggerated video content instead of something more realistic.
  • Tend to have a high drive to tickle for as long as intensely as they can get away with.
  • Some are more familiar with broader body sensitivity, but many also fixate on a few spots.
  • Many come with overconfidence from more observation than hands-on experience, but those that are experienced tend to really hold on to what they've learned.
That's not exhaustive or anything–Just some thoughts that came to mind. Lastly, I don't think that there's much difference between female and male lers on average. Admittedly, I have very little first-hand experience with male lers, but observationally, I see good and bad on both sides when it comes to skill. Many females have the natural tool advantage of long nails and smaller fingers, but on a pure skills basis, I don't think there's much difference. I feel like most of the time I hear others declaring that one or the other is definitively better, it's derived from a bias of coincidental personal experience or one's own desire for it to be true. One element to this that I find interesting is that some people can be more susceptible to tickling by one gender over the other, because in large part, tickling is a very emotional and interpersonal process. But that has more to do with the lee than the ler.

A vanilla female friend attacked my wife’s soles briefly last weekend and she was definitely aggressive and “mean” about it.

no but maybe I’m wrong i just thought vanilla meant they are not into tickling
I'm starting to wonder more and more about this myself. Some of the vanilla women I have tickled recently love it. I was tickling someone a week or so ago and when I asked her if she'd had enough, she replied defiantly, "never". So exciting. I am discovering there are way more women who are open to tickling and find it fun than I ever imagined. Then there's the fact that I tickled one woman for about 4 hrs off and on with breaks. I think some of them are just finding it to be the ultimate stress reliever. Laughing their heads off and losing a bit of their minds. 😈
