Why are there more new threads in the <I>General Discussion</I> area than there are in the <I>Tickling Discussion</I> area ?

My general impression is that there are something like five times as many new threads, and ten times as many thread continuations.

Mods or anybody with accurate numbers, please correct my statistics (which are merely numbers that I made up from glancing at the <I>new posts</I> screens over the past few weeks).

The facts are, though, that the <I>Tickling Discussion</I> area does not have anywhere near as much activity as the <I>General Discussion</I> area does.

Perhaps it's because we can post about any topic in General Discussions, and only threads about tickling in the Tickling Discussion area. 🙂

Well, P50 I can't speak for anyone but myself. I post to what interest me, I have posted at the tickling discussion and at the stories. It's just lately, I have not saw anything that I cared to respond to.

Why are there more new threads in the <I>General Discussion</I> area than there are in the <I>Tickling Discussion</I> area ?

In tickling discussion, we're confined to conversation about one aspect of who we are. There's much more to us than our love for tickling. In general discussion, we can talk about the other areas of our lives and really get a sense for who our fellow TMFers are. I suspect that's the biggest reason.

There may be more new threads in GenDisc, but they get much fewer hits than those in TickDisc. The GenDisc offers a lot more different topics, but the vast majority of members come here for tickling only. Personally, I prefer to talk and read about many more different items, so I'm in GenDisc more frequently.
