do they really use doubles for the President?

ok so last night i'm watching a video on demand...William Hurt as the president..he gets shot..it's a really super cool movie...but half way thru the movie you find out because of a real threat to the President's safety at this summit meeting, they replace him with his double..said they have been doing that since Reagan...

now...that's not true is it? i mean what if the double gets shot and killed? how is that explained to the public??

I don't know if the US does it, but I know that the UK used a double for Prime Minister Winston Churchill during the Second World War.

It would be a smart thing to do, actually, esp. in these days of wacko assassins and terrorism. A body double would definitely keep our enemies guessing.

I'm sure it is done to some degree. I know for fact it was done at least once during the terms of FDR. He and his people were taking the train, and he wanted to grab a nap, so he gave a Secret Service guard a crash course in impersonating the president. Giving the guard a pair of his glasses and a cigarette holder, and had him smile and wave as they passed through the towns.

i don't know but it's possible , i heard a lot of others did ,saddam comes to mind here , diden't he like had 10 or something?? might be only 2 or something.

He would it notice if bush suddenly made a smart remark?? that the real one or a double ?? xp

They'd have to be offering more than what the prez gets paid for me to be the double for him.

Maybe if they paid me $45 billion a year and an affidavit that says I'd never ever ever ever have to do another thing in my entire life, I'd think about it, but I'd still want better terms.

Just because it would rock to get that much money and clout from the gov't without lifting a finger.

I'd also want full body armor, including face armor. Because I can still get shot if my face isn't wearing armor, a promise I'd never have to speak, and that I can have anything I want just by asking for it, as well as marine combat training and Navy SEALS combat training and my own weapons and to be followed by a team of the most elite veteran marines and a thousand snipers watching my position all the time, and the promise that if someone takes a shot at me I get to beat them until they cry for mommy without recourse against me.

I'd want my family to be 100% immune from civil court cases for the next 500 generations and that we have the right to condemn any attorney who would bring suit against us to prison.

I also wouldn't mind someone to chew my food for me and move my legs for me when I walk.
