umm😛 No red indian im talking about HORROR Movies (Scary Movies) Not Amercian Sitcoms!!

anyways.. is anybody here big into Horror Movies (as in Scary movies)?

Let me know

I'm big into horror movies, but not recent crap like "Scream", "Jeepers Creepers" or "Cabin Fever".
These movies feature all the same supermodel 20-somethings, who think they're cool by using the "F"-word every five minutes, with the same rehashed storyline.
I prefer the classics such as the 50s and 60s Vincent Price movies.

Although for sheer freaked-out horror, nothing could beat 1972s "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things".

The first Jeepers Creepers wasn't your standard teen-slasher (for the first half of it at least), so it scored browny points for that at least. And The Ring (Jap version) scores pretty highly too. But yeah, new horror eats ass in my opinion, it's really all about:

Don't Look Now
Exorcist
Hellraiser (1)
Evil Dead series (groovy, baby)
Night of the Living Dead
Children of the Corn
Village of the Damned
The Wicker Man
Early Hammer Horror

But a good anime film beats them all 😉

True said animes are pretty good. But they can in no way top horror Movies in my opinion🙂 Give me a good vampire movie anyday!

Near Dark
The Lost Boys
John Carptenders:vampires
Blade(gotta get around to seeing Blade 2 though here)

other favorites
Night of the living dead
Dawn of the Dead
Dead alive(funny stuff😛)

Vampire Hunter D

Classic horror, classic anime, and its got more camped-up Vampires in it than a Christopher-Lee convention. Sorted! 😀

I also enjoy horror films with a humorous side. Some of these include:

Re-Animator (1 and 2)
From Beyond
The Return of the Living Dead (1 and 2)
The last couple of "Lepracaun" movies
CHUD 2- Bud the Chud

I am a HUGE horror movie buff. I will take a good horror flick over ANY orher genre of movies anyday!

I, too, prefer your earlier slasher type flicks. The modern horror movies they have been coming out with just can't compare. We just watched Freddy vs. Jason the other day, and it was much more a comedy than an actual horror film. It was an insult to BOTH the Friday the 13th, and the Nightmare on Elm Street series.

There are exceptions, though. Final Destination (the first one) was pretty decent. I also enjoyed The Ring, Queen of the Damned, House on Haunted Hill, and 13 Ghosts. And the original Candyman was not too bad.

But then you have Dracula 2: The Ascention, Final Destination 2, They, Darkness Falls, Halloween H20, Halloween: Ressurection, Friday the 13th 7-10, Fear Dot Com, etc.....movies that are a disgrace to the horror industry.

Some of my favorites:

Sleepaway Camp
Funhouse
CHUD
Waxwork
The Shining
Evil Dead 1 & 2
Return of the Living Dead 1 & 2
Creepshow
Friday the 13th 1-4 & 6
Halloween 1 & 2
Nightmare on Elm Street 1-3
Make them Die Slowly
Salems Lot
Amityville Horror (though I liked it better when I thought it was a true story...once I learned it was a hoax, it lost it's glimmer)
Fright Night
Slumber Party Massacre
Seven
Children of the Corn

I know there are lots more, but for some reason my mind is drawing a blank. But I love a good horror film. Nothing better, IMO.

Mimi 🙂

Hi. :wavingguy

You probably won't find a bigger horrorhead on this board; pretty much wasted my youth on them.

Some of my fav's:

Exorcist ("MERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIINNN")
Changeling
The Ring
Ringu
Evil Dead
Wicker Man
Rosemary's Baby
Suspiria
Alien
Jaws
Se7en
Halloween
Chidren of the Corn
Marathon Man (not a horror per se, but incredibly creepy nonetheless)
Humanoids from the Deep (don't laugh, it scared the bejesus outta me)

Books

Pet Cemetary
The Keep
Demon Tree
Serpent and the Rainbow
Most of Dean Koontz's stuff (Midnight, The Bad Place, Lightning, etc)
The Sentinel

Happy hunting!! 🙂

Cheers.😀

Horror Fiend

Oh yes, blackrosesvamp! Dig the horror bigtime here. Just afew of my favorites:The Haunting, Delamorte Delamore, Necronomicon, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cannibal Holocaust, Hallucinations of a Deranged Mind, The Exorcist, Jaws, Dementia 13, Pieces, Rosemary's Baby,The Abominable Dr Phibes, Bloodsucking Freaks...

Hell, I could go on and on and on. I have over 15 zombie movies alone! Probably over 200 strictly horror movies, and a zillion other "B"-movies.

My current guilty pleasures are these bad Filipino flicks starring John Ashley called the Blood Island Trilogy. Also, diggin' crazy old Mexi-horror like "Brainiac" and "The Witches Mirror". When it comes to horror movies, I'll watch damn near anything.

P.S.--

I'm not nearly the fan of anime that many here are, but that "Vampire Hunter D" was wicked. The follow-up was even BETTER!

I started out as a normal kid till I started watching Sir Graves Ghastly hosting movies on saturday morning in detroit. I was hooked on horror from there on. I remember being eleven years old, and begging my dad to take me to see Dawn of the dead at the mall theater. It was unrated, and my dad had no problem taking me to gory movies. His take? Movies aren't real, case closed (I wish parents today could deal with it that way). Ten minutes into the movie, I was in shock seeing the lady in the stairwell get her neck and arm ripped open. I actually asked my dad if we could leave, and he said (HA!), "We paid five bucks to see this movie...we're staying"
After it was over, walking through the mall (which didn't help me after that movie), he again reiterated that it wasn't real. Still, i had nightmares for about six months. Any zombie movie now gives me the heebie jeebies. But I remember how thrilling it was to be that scared.
Anyway, horror rules! BOO-YAH!

The Sean Man

horror is the best!

well maybe not better than good war films, but i love them!
never liked the freddie movies though.
and the chuckie films were icky.
all the older stuff was great, even the new stuff is enjoyable.
mimi, how can you not have liked holloween h2o. that was classic!
jason x was hysterical, freddie vs jason was a dissappointment.
loved scream, and the comedy satire of it; scarry movie.

horror, it gets the blood going!

Count me in!

I love horror movies, love horror novels as well. My all time favorite movie is the Exorcist. That movie still scares the hell out of me.

tbbw

I forgot to add the Hershel Gordon Lewis trilogy to my list:

Blood Feast
2000 Maniacs
Color Me Blood Red

Dr. Bill mentioned "Bloodsucking Freaks", I think that , "The Wizard of Gore", and "The Last House on the Left" have to be 3 of the most disgusting and sadistic movies ever made.

And I always laugh when someone brings up "Sleepaway Camp", one of the sequels starred Bruce Springsteen's sister! (I think her name was Pamela)

I love horrom movies, and I've seen just about all mentioned so far. While I agree that many horror flicks of today rely more on shock value tha imaginative story lines, I will admit the the final scene in "Friday the 13th" made me scream, and kept me up most of the night, but I digress. Yes, give me a good Vincent Price movie, anyday. The Tomb of Lygia, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Haunted Palace (Which I watched yesterday), or the classic Dracula, Frankenstien, The Haunting of Hill House, or some good old "Night Gallery" episodes (Remember "The Doll"? C-R-E-E-P-Y!) Old "Twilight Zone episodes. "I'm Talking Tina, and I'm going to kill you!". I used to live for stuff like that. Still do. As for books, practically everything Steven King has written, and for a fun "Horror" flick, you can't beat "The Comedy of Terrors."
