I think he does.....I still say that he is the best all around QB in the game today, and I don't want to see him end up like Dan Marino, and not have anything to show for it. Do you think he deserves one? Or better yet, do you think he will get one?

Well..........

.....my view is that......oh.....er.......sorry, is this another "****** ball" thread?.......ok, my mistake.

yes, it's clear that red wants to see manning get one, and I don't blame him, I wanna see it as well. What do all you real football fans out there think?

Ah very good kroky!!!........

.....you seem to be picking up the idea! "see manning get one".....(up the arse).....geddit???.....it seems there is hope for you septics after all.

Hey now, don't get me excited there red...😀

Yes, I agree, but all I am saying is that a QB with his type of talent, that plays with the kind of heart that he does, SHOULD have something to show for it. It's just my opinion. Look at Dan Marino...one of the greatest QB's that ever lived, if not the best...and he never got one...and it obviously WASN'T because of his lack of talent.

trust me..it was heartbreak for me seeing dan marino never getting his superbowl ring. I am a HUGE Dolphins fan. I know how indy fans will feel if peyton never gets his!

Indy has the offense to win a Super Bowl, but needs to improve their "D"....getting home field throughout the playoffs would also be a tremendous advantage in that dome (as opposed to playing outdoors in frigid Foxboro).

Does Peyton deserve a Super Bowl ring? Sure, and I hope he wins one someday....but I hope Michael Vick wins four or five before his career is over (can you tell I'm a rabid Atlanta Falcons fanatic? 😀

Krokus.. my opinion..he was one of the best to play. Elway just might be the greatest..although montana was good. Dan, Joe, John, it doesnt matter..they were superb field generals..some of the best that will ever play the game of football

Bernie Kosar was a great QB who never won a championship, as was Archie Manning and Bobby Hebert. I remember a Monday Night game in '92 where Kosar's Browns were playing the Dolphins and the Browns were down by 5 with a few minutes left. Kosar took a hit and clutched his ankle. He was taken to the bench and told the trainers to just "tape it up" and went back in to score the winning touchdown on a 75-yard drive. Later, they found out that his ankle was broken in two places.

"****** ball" indeed. At least our football players have enough brain cells to protect themselves and thier physical and mental futures, rather than being "real men" and becoming toothless retards by 29.

(Ahhh....another season approaches where Red and I can go at it again...😀 )

Bernie Kosar got his ring after Modell booted him off the Browns with "diminished skills". I couldn't stand Modell nor do I like his buzzards...oh, I mean Ravens.

I'm glad the Browns got rid of Tim "I really wish I could play football" Couch. I never liked him and he never made it past mediocre. I don't know anything about Garcia, but the quarterback controversy has been settled, and the other mini-scandals have been put to rest. I think they'll have a decent season, maybe even the playoffs perhaps. A girl can dream, right.

And as far as the "****** ball" comments are concerned: All players of the NFL and their fans say "BITE ME"!!!!!

At these salaries, I know a whole lot of people would'nt mind playing ****** ball. How much do the people make in your unprotected, violent, basically useless sport? Is the criteria based on how low the IQ of the players are?

Guess what, folks...
To win, it takes more than the greatest TALENT you've ever seen. It takes something within you.

It takes the ability to pull it out of your ass when it's on the line. Pure and simple. No ifs, ands, or buts. If Peyton Manning has that ability, he certainly hasn't exhibited it yet. Please, no more crocodile tears. If he learns how to do that, more power to him. As time goes on, though, it becomes more questionable, and the crocodile tears are wasted.

The New York Yankees, it might vex SOME of you to learn, won five World Series in a row, from '49 through '53, with three of those against opponents who were better on paper (yes, Milagros, we know, please be quiet). How did they do it? Well, any team would count itself blessed to have just one pitcher who, when the chips were down, could be counted upon to go out and win on the day that they had to win. Period. Now, could Greg Maddux or Tom Glavine be included in company like that? NO. And neither could Don Newcombe...
The Yankees had THREE. Three pitchers who could pull it out of their ass. Ed Lopat (a more reliable earlier version of Jamie Moyer), Vic Raschi (aggressive fastballs and curves), and Allie Reynolds, a Native American from Oklahoma who threw blinding speed. That wasn't all. The Yankees also had every day position players who always came through when it was on the line. Players who go out and do it when it's on the line win. Guys who really look good, only to fail at crunch time don't.

On Dan Marino: A sportswriter with a major newspaper once told me that if you pressed his teammates, you'd find out the extent to which they all hated him. A clue?

Another ?, did Cal Ripkin Jr. win in 1983? If not, I think you can add him to the list.

As well as having that inner spirit within you, you also have to have a good supporting cast. Football is a team game and if there is one player who blows an assignement, then the play is busted. No matter how much talent you have. I think the Indy offense can do it with the receivers and James to keep the LB's honest. I think the key is the offensive line. you need the guys to block so Manning can set up in the pocket (no, the guy can't scramble like Vick, so he is not a multi dimensional QB). Think about it, when Montana won in SF, the had Jerry rice and John Taylor as his wide outs, and a pro Bowl TE in Brent Jones and Roger Craig. when he went to KC, he didn't win shit.

Giantfan ,You forgot one of baseballs great players who never won a championship and that man is 'The Wizzard of Oz" Ozzy Smith.I think of all the short stops over the years who can't hold a candle to the way Ozzy played ss it was his domiane, and nobody except for Ray Ordoniez(?) came close.I think he dersevers one, don't you?

q -ball

In order to deserve a superbowl ring one has to win one. Since Manning did not win one, ergo he has yet to deserve one.

Yes. good point. I forgot about him. BTW, Rey Ordonez isn't a pimple on his ass.

No one *deserves* a Super Bowl ring,a World Series ring or anything else.Like another poster said, you will one or you don't it just that simple.

Don't worry Eli will get his ring soon enough :jester: oh you thought I ment his bother didn't you :jester: :bump:

The day SheLia gets a Super Bowl ring will be the same day hell freezes over.He might be the most over rated qb in the NFL,if it were not for his family name,he would have to go out and get a real job. 🙂 Hmm ,the Chargers got Phillp Rivers and Sean Meriman in that trade i believe, who would you rather have? And i say this as a lifelong Chiefs fan,i wish the bolts would have kept Shelia.
