I cannot tell you how many times I have gone out of my way to greet new people in the forum. Maybe I should be the official greeter... Do 'we' have a greeter on here? Hmmm...

Just once, I would love it if some woman would send me a Private Message and say hello... I think that part of the stigma is that all guys are only out for some extra 'simulation'...mental or otherwise... and there are NO WOMEN who need this as well?
I suppose male lers have no problem with this... I'm sure they just chalk it up to 'the thrill of the chase' or some such rot. Must we guys ALWAYS make the first move?

Anyway... thanks for the vent.

As for posting, hey, anything that gets people posting is good, right? No such thing as a bad discussion (except for the pronounciation of the word "pecan" - seriously, don't touch that one with a sodding barge pole).

But I always liked that we've been a friendly bunch. That's what kept me coming back. x) And the people here don't exclude, either - I love how newcomers always get welcomed and treated like they've been there all along.

Women don't send hello messages because there are pretty few active members to begin with here. Even less real females. Most likely, even upon simply registering they are overwhelmed by private messages, if not chased away by them completely. I'd imagine they think that attention would just increase tenfold if they were to post something.

I don't think there's anything wrong with lurking and I guess if you're frustrated no one is saying hello, just stop being the greeter.

To expand on this, if anybody is experiencing any form of harassment (intentional or otherwise), they're encouraged to report it to a moderator or an administrator. No member, regardless of gender, should be prevented from posting here owing to a situation like this.
