Does anyone live in Northern New Hampshire?

I have a question for any Hampsters lurking out there. My hubby is looking at a position in Northern New Hampshire (near Bethleham) and I was wondering about the area.
Being that far north I am imagining the absolute middle of nowhere with no shopping malls, people, nothing. Also a winter that lasts about 9 months of the year. please tell me I'm wrong about at least one of those? 😛

Don't know a thing about the area, although I have always coveted New Hampshire's state motto: "Live free or die!"

What's the motto of Texas? "Friendship." Can you believe it? (In a Barney voice)"Friiieennndship!" Dammit, we're twice as likely to shoot your ass as them New Hampsters are!

Hey I'm from central New Hampshire. Bethlem is a beautiful area, yes winter does last a bit longer then it does down here near the capital of Concord. But the views, the fresh air, the people, you will love it. And yes, people do drive cars up there lol. It is not as bad as you think, areas are getting more and more built up as you go north in New Hampshire. I've always been attracted to NH. The small state government and no income or sales tax is a definate plus over NJ. The cost of living here is rediculous.
