Does the NFC West deserve a playoff spot?

The four teams in the NFC West are absolutely putrid. :pukefight: Seahawks, Rams, Cardinals, Niners.

I realize there are 6 more weeks left in the season, but it looks like one of the 7-3 teams out of the following is probably going to get screwed out of a playoff spot: Bears, Packers, Saints, Buccaneers.

Any thoughts?

I think the Seahawks will make the playoffs with a winning record... barely. Just like how the Cardinals made it with 9 wins and 7 losses and eventually ended up in the Superbowl, I believe the Seahawks will make it with 9 wins as well -- although not to the Superbowl.

I been for this for a long time in baseball as well cause for years the American League East has a team sitting out cause they only have 1 wild card.

I love to see in football top 6 teams go and top 4 in baseball, as for hockey and basketball if you cant make it in those 2 screw you.

The only down side to that is was it 2 years ago the Cardinals made it to NFC Championship game.

They deserved it. They played in a great game and almost won. Whoever wins the NFC West will be crused in the wild-card round.

Football prides itself on its parity and this in turn leads to great attendance across the nation. Take away playoff births for each division and it wont be long until the same 2 divisions for both conferences get all of the playoff bids as the players will go where the winners are. As it is teams go through stages of mediocrity and having great teams. The Cardinals the last couple years, Seahawks in the early to mid 2000s and Rams in the late 90s early 00s were not teams that anyone wanted to play. They will be back and the saints, bucs, bears and who knows else will blow and we will have the same convrsation reversed.

Plus you never know who is going to show up in the playoffs, often it is a whole new season.

I'm a Niners fan and no, NFC west teams should not have a playoff spot at this point.

They suck

If you read the last line I mentioned the only bad thing with that and I mentioned the Cards cause they did play good in the playoffs

There are still 6 weeks left... Seattle could still get a winning record.. they just have to win 4 of those 6 to have a winning record and be 9 and 7... if they win the rest of their games (not gonna happen) they'd be 11 and 5... it's not over yet. Now I shall admit, i'm a 49er fan.. but they if they stop being stupid could end with a 9 and 7 record too... I'm sorry our division sucks, but you know what, deal with it lol And why you all acting like it's the NFC west only... most people act like that's it.. AFC west is in the same boat... thy have pretty much the same record. the only diff is that KC has 6 wins instead of 5...

The AFC West has actually played well. Who expected the Raiders and Chiefs to be in contention for the playoffs? And the Chargers are coming on again.

I don't know...at least two of the teams could still make a legit run at the end of the season. Both the Seahawks and Rams (yes, you read that right) have talent, just need to get it together. Sam Bradford is the real deal and I think the Rams are a few key players away from being a "real" team again.

But, this is why we have divisions. Win your division, you're in. Then it's up to you...get good quick or get killed fast. Remember the Steelers from 04...three unlikely road wins then a Super Bowl victory. Anything can happen and that's what makes this great game so exciting. WHEN they fire on all cylinders, the Rams and 'Hawks are not bad teams. And in this years' NFC, who knows?

I heard a good way to handle this, cause this same subject came up on one of the shows. That I heard was they get a playoff berth for winning the div, but record sets the seeding this way no team 7-9 or 8-8 can have a home game against a 10- 6 or 11-5 team.
