Doesn't Want A Gift Of A Pro Massage Because She's Too Ticklish

I heard something interesting yesterday. My best friend, Russell, enjoys having professional massage sessions from time to time. I've gone with him on occasion, and have found them very relaxing.

Russ was telling me about a discussion he was having with his mother on Wednesday night. Russ had wanted to give his mother a gift certificate to the massage place that he goes to. His mother declined, saying that she doesn't want to have a professional massage, because she's "too ticklish", and is afraid it would tickle her too much. I thought that was an interesting answer. Russ has told me about her ticklishness in the past, and that when he or a family member had tried to tickle her, she went ballistic, because she's so ticklish. This woman is 66 years old, which proves that with some people, ticklishness doesnt diminish with age.

Has anyone else ever heard of someone who didn't want to have a professional massage because they were too ticklish?

I used to hear it all the time. I was a Massage Therapist for 6 yrs and it was a VERY common piece of conversation.

A while back, when I had gotten a pro massage, I asked the girl who massaged me, Kandy, if she had ever heard that massage felt ticklish, or if her clients had ever said it felt ticklish, and she said that yes, on occasion, she had clients tell her that when she massaged them it felt ticklish. Kandy also said that she thought that if she massaged people with a firmer touch, the ticklishness wouldnt be as much of an issue.

I could never get a massage despite me really wanting to relax from time to time. I found I can only handle head and hand massages. Everywhere else just tickles me to such an extent I get really tense and squirm the whole time so there's no point.

I used to frequent a massage parlor although not the conventional types but I ran into one girl who would slip in a tickle I would squirm but told her I liked to be tickled she ran with it and soon I was going to the place quite often it would end up being a tickle session she would tickle me senseless but then would switch and let me tickle her as she was ticklish it lasted a few years then one day she was gone never saw her again we did have a ball though she would even include another masseuse to help tickle she was also great at flashing an evil grin knowing she was torturing me

Yes, one of my female cousins won't join her mother and sister for a massage on their birthday "spa day" because she's too ticklish. (All 3 were born in late June in different years so they celebrate together every year.)

It's very common, like I mentioned in an earlier post. We were taught that if someone had a ticklish spot, to first try a firmer touch. If that didn't work, move to another area and come back later. A lot of times, the person was laughing before I got to their spots, in anticipation, but I found with them, telling them it was not going to tickle (which it shouldn't, if you know what you're doing) was wnough to calm things down. I did have a few customers (very few) who loved the occasional ticklish spot and even asked for more on occasion. I need to go back to that line of work...🙂 Hyper, get in touch...I'll have to offer my services if I am ever in the UK.

I am actually one who loves getting massages just for that reason. When I can afford one, I always try to find a massuse (female). If I am seeing her for the first time, I let her know that my feet are aching (which is true) and I definetly want them massaged, but, that they are extremely ticklish and I am going to giggle and laugh like a five year old when she is massaging them. I then promise her that I won't kick at her, and assure her she won't be torturing me, and that, unless I specifically tell her to stop (which I never have in my 50+ times of having a professional massage) to just ignore the giggling and keep going. Some think its all in my head, others understand and get a kick out of it. I once even had one playfully stroke the bottom of my right sole and say, "You're not really ticklish, are you?" and she enjoyed my responding with a cackling outburst. But, most massuses are understanding, and just let me laugh through the time they are massaging my aching feet.
