[A 7-year-old British police dog was hunting for drugs when he died of a suspected overdose last Monday. Todd, a Springer spaniel, was rushed to an animal intensive care center where he died shortly after. The dog showed symptoms of ingesting amphetamines. Sergeant Peter Crane of Preston's dog unit commented, "He's going to be very difficult to replace, but police work is dangerous and unfortunately Todd has become a casualty."

How did he ingest them??? Sniffing is one thing, but what, were there drugs just lying around the kennel??? I don't buy it...and wouldn't unless they did an actual blood level. Or I'd wonder if someone didn't poison that dog.... :sowrong:

I agree with Deb. It just sounds kinda fishy. Most police dogs will alert to the drugs presence. But, they don't get in there and injest it in any way. Something's missing here.
