It seems that more people are going to see documentaries at the theatre these days.(Perhaps there is a slight, albiet rough, connection to documentaries and the Reality TV shows also popular with the masses.
May I suggest 2 titles for your viewing pleasure:
1)"The Fog of War" - Academy Award winner for best Documentary.
Director Errol Morris ,(who also directed the excellent "Mr.Death:The Rise and Fall of Ed Leutner"),interviews Former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara about his life.It mainly covers his life in WW2,President of Ford Motor Company, and his time as Defense Secretary under President Kennedy and Johnson.Throughout the film,McNamara dicusses the 13 Lessons he's learned in his tenures.
Somewhat Comical in places, serious in others.
Philip Glass provides an excellent music soundtrack.
2)"Vietnam:A Television History - (4 DVD set.PBS American Experience)
A thorough insight in to the Vietnam War from 1954 - 1975.
