Have any forum members heard about,. bought.. or read.. Dwight Gooden's new book, "Doc".
I bought it the other day. It is very interesting. Although I'm not a Mets "Fan", I used to follow him closely in the 1980s, and my father and I used to specifically go to Shea Stadium to see him pitch.
So far, the book seems quite interesting and revealing. It seems to be so much more than just a rich, spoiled athlete who blew it all. It is the story of a tortured man, fighting an addiction.
When I first saw him pitch in 1984 and 1985, I truly thought he was going to be in the Hall of Fame. It's tragic how a guy with so much talent, let it all go to pieces.
I'm not going to give away where he is now, for those who have the book, and haven't read it.
Any thoughts by those who have read it?
