Easy Ryder!!!!............

.....I had best keep all you Americans informed on what happened in the Ryder Cup today as you may have to look very hard to find any coverage in your own sports pages!....you lost by a massive margin, eighteen and a half to nine and a half, to make it three losses on the trot for the US.

Tiger Woods spent most of the three day tournament looking as if he had never played a competitive game in his life.

p.s. we did manage to avoid treading on any of your putting lines even though we won!

Miaow 😀. I also heard Tiger Woods' caddy lost his 9-iron in a water hazard. Please can someone explain to me what went on there.

Of course it takes a WHOLE continent to beat us. You didn't mention that. Why not England vs. America, or Sweden, or Italy, ot Scotland? Oh that's right, they can't field a team good enough so they use ALL european countries.

Another thing you forgot to mention, most people in America don't give a shit about golf. :bump:

Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Frankly, I'm more interested in the NFL at the moment. Not to mention where David Beckham's future lies. My guess? Los Angeles eh?

1) The USA is the size of a continent. Each state is like a small country. We still won. Viva Europa.

2) Why do people turn up in droves for the US Open if nobody in America cares about golf? I think somebody is talking poo!

3) David Beckham's future lies in the gutter somewhere in Madrid. No debate is needed. I seriously hope that he gets signed up by Major League Saaaccer, the graveyard of football careers, sooner rather than later, thereby confirming his status as an over-rated has-been. In the meantime I also seriously hope Real Madrid do decide to use him at right back to cover Cicinho's injury as some people have speculated, because he has all the pace, tackling ability and defensive qualities of my fat hairy arse, and would therefore be exposed as the two-trick "deadball specialist" donkey that he always was. His presence in the team cost a few good lads their England opportunity and the reliance on him to lead the line when he was clearly incapable of doing so crippled us for years.

I used to love men's golf..mostly because i had crushes on various players..like Seve..and Ben..then i got interested in the actual game and loved watching, especially the majors..then i discovered Nascar..and golf seemed to pale in comparison..however i still watch occasionally.. such as the Masters.. o and Bernhard Langer..always liked him..

p.s. red indian....you still spelled it wrong in the title..😀 :happyfloa

Trust me, golf is very much a dying breed here. At least, to the younger crowd. It's the only thing I've ever seen thats ALMOST as boring as Cricket/Baseball/Nascar (IMO). As for Beckhams future, I hope he stays in madrid, as the last thing MLS needs is washed up players. If the league has a future, it has to change it's playoff format, and raise solid players.

With Van Nistelrooy now at Real Madrid, the place seems to be a retirement home for Soccer Stars.

The MLS has a lot more problems than just the weird regional tier play-off "Added Time MultiBall!!!1" bollocks. For one thing it's the only place in the world where 38 year old cloggers can command wages of £30,000 a week on the back of the fact that they were once the 7th best centre-half in England, except perhaps for the Middle Eastern OPEC state leagues. Even the J-League has evolved past that now. It's a cash cow for second-rate players and the elderly, and because the general consensus amongst most Americans seems to be that "soccer" is a sport "for jerks" (probably because there isn't really any homoerotic man-on-man grappling action like you get in the NFL or WWE and stuff) that's all it ever will be. Beckham's on his way mate, trust me, hot on the heels of a few lads from round my way who, having failed trials at the likes of Crewe, Wrexham, Burnley and Blackburn, were snapped up and offered green cards and college scholarships if they came and plied their second-rate skills in the "Major" League. The other problem is that the MLS commentators say stuff like "that's a real power-drive down the right wing-line by Pope!". Nobody wants to hear that shit when they're watching a footy match. Also the teams have names such as the Columbus Crew and LA Galaxy. Nobody wants to go out and buy a t-shirt proclaiming their support for "the Galaxy". Lastly your fans have about 3 songs which are shared between them all and seldom sung. Nobody wants to go to a footy match and sing 3 songs and complain about the Galaxy's lack of a real right wing-liner who can make power-drives and create the super-play. Come on, seriously.

In conclusion you're probably right about Real Madrid being the retirement home of football careers, but at the end of the day at least there's still some semblance of prestige in pulling on the shirt. And you'd never hear Guillem Balague praising them for their "power-drive cross-wing play" 😀

Oh I agree, the problem is that Americans just don't care about Soccer. Which is a shame, IMO... Because I honestly feel it's the greatest sport in the world. I must say though, if Becks joins MLS... When his team comes to play FC Dallas, I'll be there... I've always wanted to meet him, and his chisled good looks will bring this country to it's knees. :smilelove

Hey! I like the name Columbus Crew... lol.

I assume you are a liverpool fan... Even though I am a ManU supporter, I like the reds (it IS possible) =P I'm glad to see that you guys are starting to get your form back...

Now if only ManU could get it together... C'mon, dropping points to Arsenal and Reading? Gimme a f*cking break!

I think that if MLS would set up a relegation system involving the USL, the league would prosper much more than it is now. I just don't see that happening, even the MLS commissioner said it won't happen in his lifetime.

I'd also like to meet "Becks", except for different reasons. If I ever got the opportunity I'd like to thank him for reintroducing some of the magic back into football for me; now, whenever I see an English right sided midfielder taking someone on and getting beyond them to put a cross in, tackling back, winning a header or doing something other than simply taking a free-kick or passing the ball a long way, or when I see an English captain taking charge of his side or grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck to get his team's heads up when it's not going well, I feel as though I have witnessed some magical occurence after many long years spent watching Beckham not do any of those things.

As far as the Reds' season so far, it's ticking along rather than actually exploding into life as most of us expected it to. I'm not actually too concerned about the loss to Chelski or Everton, the biggest frustration for me is that we can't seem to do three things at once; over the past few years we've been defending like Spartans, playing well in the middle third and creating opportunities which our strikers were squandering with abandon, and now we're getting good at scoring, still playing well in the middle, but the defensive line are falling to bits. Reina's having a bad patch, Carragher doesn't look fit, Hyypia's past his best, Agger and Warnock are good but they're still young, and neither Finnan, Riise or Aurelio inspire confidence in holding the line despite the fact they're all quite good at getting forward. That said I still reckon Rafa's finding his best 11, the summer signings are still bedding in and I reckon despite the shitty start (you think losing at Arsenal and drawing against Reading is bad? 0-0 against Sheffield United and losing 3-0 to fucking Everton is far more embarrassing) we'll be up there this year. I've been impressed with the new faces thus far, Kuyt, Pennant and Gonzalez in particular, and as soon as Rafa finds that magic 11 I reckon it'll be clobbering time. As far as United going, loathe as I am to compliment the Salford Scum they're not looking nearly as rattled as most were expecting them to in the summer, especially given the departure of Van Nistelrooy and the transfer window debacle that saw them sign one player for a stupidly inflated price and get turned down by West Brom's goalie. United are a good side, the results against Arsenal and Reading were a fart in the bath. I wouldn't worry about them, Fergie's still got a quality squad and a first team most managers would kill for, they'll finish third no bother 😀

MLS. I think you've pretty much got to the heart of the problem here; you can fix the format and raise the quality of the football and institute all the youth policies you want, but at the end of the day if nobody cares about it then it's still not going to get the profitability or respect on the world stage that it has the potential to achieve. I also don't think the standard of the domestic leagues in the surrounding countries helps, since it's the continental competitions which are the real big money-spinners and interest-grabbers in most cases. Any sort of Champions League in the Americas would involve long trips to Argentina and Brazil or pointless wasted visits to the likes of Jamaica and St. Kitts & Nevis to play the local Yardies off the park. That doesn't help the cause much either I don't think.
