Man... you really got us remembering all that stuff. AOL was our service. Hell, it was the ONLY service unless you were a geek. There was compuserve of course, but your screen name was actually something like 2933092lkjhf-23902. No kidding. Prodigy was around but a total joke. Anybody remember Apple's service that was around for about 5 minutes? It was really AOL rebranded for Mac users. Anyway, we had the fastest modem available then, a 9600 baud! lol...
I remember that we used to have our catalog on our website and it used to take me about an hour to upload it. And it was only text!!!! No movies, a couple of pix that were like maybe 25k each. How times have changed. And then our customers had to print it out and send it back to us and then we'd have to fill the order, package it up, send it back etc..
Not to mention the price point. Our videos were 45 dollars each for a half hour tape, all sent through the snail mail. Now, you can see what you have: instant delivery at less than half the price. And still... people will bitch. 🙂 But that's okay, it's human nature to complain.
But the point is: we've come a long way, baby.

the TJ productions videos were outrageously priced back in the early nineties (ie.$95 for a video) -- Magic Touch and Real tickling started having 40 minute videos with attractive and ticklish women for $20-$30 in the beginning and took over the tickling video market. Foot paradise and several others then came along--all with better quality at about half the price of the T.J. videos - however Tom and Jess did get the whole tickle video thing started. TJ was head and shoulders over the fake tickling crud offered by Cal Star, Vid Tech and Harmony.

You are right that indeed, today, 95 dollars is outrageous. What needs to be kept in mind is that in 1994, our audience was a FRACTION of what a producer has today. I mean, a truly small fraction. So, volume can make the prices of today possible, that weren't economically viable a decade ago for an internet sales company. If you pay 3000 dollars to have a video made, and you can only sell 3 videos a month, then pricing is a factor. Lowering the price wasn't necessary, we had a 98 percent look-to-buy ratio. An incredible number for any industry!
To be clear our only 95 dollar video was Bill and L and that was only for the first 6 months. After that, Bill and L was 60, it was always our highest priced tape. ALL our other videos were 45 dollars. Very comparable to every other producer at the time. Economics being the key motivator for pricing, Bill and L was a hugely expensive proposition for us to produce and we didn't even break even for years honestly.
Another factual error was that Magic Touch and Real Ticklng overlapped with TJ. Magic Touch did, but Real Tickling didn't. We never considered Magic Touch a competitor since what they do is so not what we do. Apples and Oranges. Real Tickling on the other hand, came along after we actively left producing.
Real Tickling, TickleCentral, SilverCherry and Dungeonmaidens, have all taken the next step in the evolution of running a business like this (which is harder and more time intensive than most people understand). Before we decided to close in 98, we had an online store, video scheduling with some ridiculously gorgeous girlfriends of J's for A LOT of money, and a new pricing structure set to go. And then we just pulled the plug at the last second and decided enough was enough. J got her Masters and I opened 2 other businesses. The rest as we say, is history. I do have to take exception with your saying that others came along with higer quality. Higher quality video yes, but action, no way. I've never seen more 'actressy' faking than from some of the companies you mentioned. And thats from me as a tickling fetish afficiando, not a producer.
And here we are today, with more choices and more quality for the tickling consumer than ever before. And now, true afficiandos can have material that has not been available for over 6 years. Long live free enterprise...

I didn't mean to sound like I was taking a shot at your company. regardless of the economies of scale back when you started, the price per 25-35 minutes was steep compared to now. And if you consider inflation over the past 6 years the pricing now is way below your pricepoints.
I have several of your vids and they were good, the only real tickling out there at the time. you were definately the pioneer and provided the community with the type of tickling we wanted to see.
When i said quality now is better it was meant mostly in terms of video quality. However, you must admit that TIB has a lot of great looking women who aren't all fakes ---and the restraints are really great, especiall that tickle board that immobilizes the women completely for some fantastic tickling. Only problem is the 4-6 minute stints are too short.

Isn't it amazing some things do get better with time! A tickle fetishist has more options than ever now. Just to give you an idea of how long I've been involved in this: my first purchase of ticking related product was on FILM!!! Super 8 to be exact.
like stone knives and bear skins compared to now.
But, as an interesting note, that first video I got still is to this day, the best tickling action I've ever seen. If their was sound I would have bought the rights and offered it to you all but alas, it was silent.
