I'm usually not a fan of remakes, but I am looking forward to this one. Well, except for the fact that I get the gut feeling that my beloved Katie Cassidy will end up being a sacrificial lamb in this little tale. 🙁

Did you and I watch the same movie!? To each their own but I thought the remake wasn't a patch on the original.

Rob Zombie is an awful director. As much as I love a bit of gore in a horror film, Zombie tends to relieve the audience of any kind of tension and suspense (the ingredients to every great horror film, imo) in favour of ridiculous amounts of gore, which is not scary.

Yeah, most remakes suck, but Hollywood has ALWAYS done remakes and probably always will. One of my favorite horror movies of all time was a remake: John Carpenter's The Thing

id rather have the remakes, the old ones have the nostalgic value but thats about it. They were full of shotty acting and corny effects. These remakes seem more serious, less corny and seem to portray the characters better imo

This looks like it could be great, and what a wonderful actor to play Freddie. Robert Englund will always be king to me, but JEH is not a bad chocie at all.

I hope they don't get too serious, though, as Jackie spoke of. Even thought the original film had 'tension', part of the Englund charm and Wes Craven's talent was that they could pull some humor out of such dark material before hitting the 'campy' clearance height. Freddy, in the early films, was a lot like the Joker in terms of personality/character. Horror with humor, instead of some many of these horror comedies that don't really fulfill in either genre. "I said where's the fucking burbon?!" Man!

Drag Me to Hell was the best horror movie I've seen in a very long time. I'm buying that the minute it comes to DVD.

First Zombie ruins Halloween, then Marcus Nispel screws up Friday the 13th, J.J. Abrams ruins Star Trek (for me anyway), and now Samuel Bayer is going to sadomize Freddy. Can't these people come up with there own stuff instead of fucking with the shit I like?

Yep. Jackie Earle Haley. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better actor, based at least on physical appearance (to be altered by hideous burn makeup, of course). I saw in the interview link that Alchemy provided that Robert Englund is a fan of Haley's work, as well. I am hoping for good things.

When the flood of remakes came a few years ago I really lost my taste for horror movies. Now I'll only see one if it strikes a chord with me. I saw the film The Haunting In Connecticut not to long ago because I used to live in CT.
