A Mexican cook killed his friend, cut up his body, and boiled him in herbs--causing police to fear that he may have been turned into tamales. Carlos Machuca, a tamale-maker, was arrested at his home after police received an anonymous phone tip. They found a man's mutilated corpse inside and body parts simmering in saucepans on the patio. Spkeswoman for the prosecuters Lorena Cortes said that "We saw the flesh and the tamales, and our first impression was that he was making tamales with the flesh of the deceased. She later claimed that Machuca may have been trying to get rid of the body
