Hi All! I was just wondering if any of you had an ER horror story you would like to share.
As for me, I went in for a strange pain in my side, and as always, they asked me to give a kidney specimen. At the time, I didn't have to go, so they told me, as always, to get undressed and put on a hospital gown.
I wasn't even in the gown yet, when a nurse poked her head in. She told me [real hateful-like] that if I didn't give them a specimen that I would be getting a cath.
Now, let me say, I hadn't been there long at all [maybe about 5 or 10 min]. I felt like [I almost did] getting up and leaving the ER.
It's a good thing I didn't though. It turned out to be my appendix.
But, I never forgot that nurses attitude. I mean, I could see it if I was there 30 min or so and hadn't done anything for them, but, like I said, it had only been 5 or 10 min. Plus, I had asked for water [something to prime the pump-so to speak] and they acted like I was asking for gold.
And, Before you ask. The nurse wasn't old. Looked to be right out of med school.
Thankfully, the handful of times I've been back since, I haven’t seen her.
This was back in 2010, BTW.
