i really hope the netherlands win the euro 2004
they won with penalty's against sweden...
they had a trauma with penalty's cause the past 12 years that was the only way to stop the dutch team expecpt world cup 1990 and 1994....
1988 - european champions
1990 - lost in the 2nd round of the world cup against the late winner germany with 2-1
1992 - lost with penalty's against danemark in the 1/2 finals of the EURO cup, starplayer marco van basten misses
1994 - lost with 3-2 in the 1/4 finals of the world cup against brazil , lost because 2 actually off-side goals from brazil..
1996 - lost with penalty's in the 1/4 finals of the EU cup against france..., acmilan player clarence seedorf misses
1998 - lost with penalty;s in the 1/2 finals of the world cup against brazil, barcelona player philip cocu and ronald de boer misses
2000 - lost with penalty's in the 1/2 finals of the EU cup in NETHERLANDS against Italy..., they had in the "normal" game 2 penalty's and they missed them both..patrick kluivert and frank de boer misses..and then they lost with penalty's: paul bosvelt, frank de boer (again) and jaap stam misses..
2002 - they weren't qualified to the world cup
2004 - they are STILL in the euro cup after a win with penalty's!!

....I fucking hate soccer anyway, give me a bit of grid iron or baseball any day! soccer is so boring, no one ever seems to score and the players just fall over all the time. How can anyone get exited about a nil/nil score line? and the game is so slow and tedious, I prefer to see fast slick action with guys scoring every few minutes like, say, ice hockey.

maybe it's because you watch the american soccer.............
that level of play isn;t the best you know....
but if you see the world class player/teams play you would change your mind.

chechz republic wins!!!
they beat danemark with 3-0
it looked like danemark had the best of the game but in 15 min chechz republic finished the job , they scored 3 goals...jan koller and 2times milan baros..
so the semi finals are between: netherlands - portugal
chechz republic - greece

Now it´s up to us! Here we go! Good luck to neteherland and may the best wins....we will probably play like against England but with Pauleta instead of Gomes....Pauleta seems to be in a bad form but he is used to score against netherland so be advised! I remember the game in holland we beat you 2-1 with 2 goals from Pauleta and again at Portugal 2-2 with another from Pauleta. Seems your defenders don´t like him!
By the way, you should let kluivert play! He allways scores against Portugal wich is scary...nice he´s on the bench! lol
It´s gonna be a greta game, both teams have great midfield with good wingers, believe we are somewhat better on that part of the field but you are stronger on the striker and have a better keeper while our defence is fast, strong but some times they do make some crazy things. It´s gonna be a close match!!

Let´s go for it!!!

i don;t know why people think kluivert is a great player....
he is good NOT great..
he is the only player in the dutch squad who didn;t play once in the EURO 2004..
he has a great technique but he is not a goalscorer like van nistelrooy or makaay...

The first half was a very nice game!

Some great plays by Figo and Ronaldo trying some of his tricks. Overmars and Davids also did nice things. That play from Figo when he strikes de post was great and the run and croos from maniche to pauleta was also preety good, the save from Van der Sar also hard one.

The second half had the great goal from Maniche, wonder goal. Mackay started playing well but after the second goal the game turned into a mess. Holland trying to go forward not knowing very well how. The own goal from andrade was actually a good goal! I did said those guys could make some crazy things lol seems I was right!

And about Greece....hummm I believe the Czechs are better but let´s see, if someone can beat the Czechs it will be the Greeks. The only game the Czechs had trouble scoring was against Latvia and Greece is almost a better and solid version of Latvia kind of play, they´ll stay back there on defence and launch deadly counter-strikes with karagounis and charisteas.

cause after the european championship: stam , cocu , de boer, overmars and maybe van der sar, van hooijdonk, davids are gonna quit playing for their country too...but we have got good alternatives: heitingha, sneijder, van der vaart, robben...and players who didn;t made it to the team: van persie (arsenal), collins john (fulham), nigel de jong (ajax)

Greece is European Soccer Champion!

Greece has just won the championship tournament. Congratulations, particularly as the majority of the Greek players are just reserves in the big European soccer clubs.

Portugal shouldn't be too sad. They really WON the second place, not just lost the finals. Their team was great, and all of Europe must be grateful for the perfect organization and the great hospitality of the Portuguese.

Anybody who had placed a bet on Greece, even on Portugal-Greece as a final match, would have made a HUGE bundle of money. They were absolutely not the favorites.

I didn;'t even watch the game but I could tell right away who'd won from the honking car horns and Greece flags hanging out of car windows up and down the streets of Montreal's Greek area where I happened to be today. If it's this crazy over here I can only imagine what it must be like in Europe!

It is sad to loose on the final but we portuguese are happy for reaching it, after all only two teams get there!

I don´t know how it was in Canada as there´s a lot of portuguese there, here in Portugal I can tell you everyone started a bit sad, but then, suddenly, the car horns started and they weren´t greeks!!! everything changed and in 30 minutes past the game you could not ear yourself in the main lisbon train station (Oriente)...I was sending an sms to a female friend of mine and ended up calling her so she could here everything, during the short call, the probably hundreds of people inside the station started screaming "Portugal, Portugal".

So the party was not what we´ve expected, we would have loved to make the big one! But we are happy. After all things went pretty well, the tournament was great and everyone feels happy that this one was made in Portugal. I haven´t eard a single persson stating that it should have been elsewhere and that´s probably out greatest victory.

As a british fan said to me:
"Good weather, good beer, nice-looking girls, friendly people, what else can we ask???"
