It tujrned out that Ross's phone call was to a corporate evaluator.
Ross wanted this man to do a complete analysis of the accounts, assets, and net worth of Ross Shell, to give Ross an idea of what steps to take of how to break down and sell off assets and perhaps come to agreements with other marketing companies, to potentially scale down Ross Shell.
Ross's friend 's name was Allen. The two men met at a steakhouse in Manhattan the following week, to discuss the situation.
"Ross, I was surprised to get your phone call, my friend. From what I've seen and read, RossShell seems to be constantly expanding like wildfire" Allen said to Ross.
"Until now, yes. That was until I got involved with a new oil and gas venture that is also exploding like wildfire. I'm overwhelmed, the work load is getting to me, and.."
"Kayley had been after you to get rid of certain things you dont need at RossShell to slow yourself down" Allen said.
"Can everyone read my mind?" Ross said, laughing.
"Okay, well, to begin with, I'm going to need a full list of all assets and accounts of RossShell from top to bottom. I need to see what clients and accounts you have, and how to go about this" Allen said.
"No problem. There is one catch" Ross said.
"Tim Patrick and anything to do with him is not on the table, and neither are Fritz, Steve, anything to do with them, and or the oil and gas ventures" Allen said.
"Oh, you are good, Allen" Ross said.
"I try" Allen replied.
Allen sighed. "To be honest, not including Tim, Fritz, Steve, or the oil and gas will obviously reduce the sale price some, but even with those things, if you include everything else you have in a package, you will still get a generous selling price for your assets and accounts" Allen said.
"Great, would there be any idea of any time frame?" Ross said.
"Once I get the paperwork, I can probably finish the overview and give you at least a rough estimate within 30 days. Then there is the time frame of how long it takes to sell off each asset and account. Some may be faster, and some might take a bit longer" Allen said.
"Excellent. Thank You. You know of course that you will be getting a generous fee for doing this.. I just want the analysis to be through, and ASAP" Ross said.
"That's my job" Allen said, as the two men shook hands and left the lunch meeting.
When Ross got back to the office, he called Tim Patrick. "Tim, I have to tell you something" Ross began.
"I suspect I already know. You are scaling down the company and keeping only me and anything to do with me, Fritz, Steve, and the oil and gas ventures and anything to do with those two men" Tim said.
"Can everyone read my mind today?" Ross said.
"I did not feel it was my place to say, Ross, but I had been hoping you would do this for a while. While I;'m more than happy with your work for me, I was also getting concerned about your work load, and frame of mind. This will only be a good thing for you, your company, you and me, you, Steve, and Fritz, and I know for you and Kayley too " Tim said.
"I know. Let;'s have lunch tomorrow. I will personally give you the campaign, and discuss things" Ross said.
"! pm, usual place. ( Shun Lee Palace) Tim said.,
"We'll do, take care" Ross said.
When Ross got home that night, he kissed Kayley hello, and tossed Kayley Ross's agreement with Allen to analyze RossShell with the intent of selling off parts of the company
"Okay, as promised, done. Or at least in the works. I made you a promise, and I intend to honor that promise" Ross said.
"Ross, leaving me out of it. It will be good for you and also for your work. I've been biting my tongue for a long time now. I've been really worried about you for a long time, babe. My explosion at you that night was out of sheer frustration, and fear, you know that, right?" Kayley said.
"I know, and I also know that when I do this, I'm not going to do something behind the back like create one small subsidiary after the next to take on junk accounts. The only things I will do is work on RossShell as it will become, the oil and gas deals, and if a true mega account like Tim Patrick that is too good to pass up comes along. Besides that, it is all scaled down from here" Ross said.
As the days went along, in addition to his regular work. Ross had to concentrate on preparing all the paperwork for a full analysis of RossShell by Allen. Within the week, Ross called Allen, Fedexed the paper work to Allen, and then came the waiting game.
Allen sent Ross an e-mail saying that at rough estimate, the assets Ross handed him could be worth anywhere from 100 to 250 million dollars.
Ross was a bit surprised, but also very pleased, considering that Tim, Fritz , Steve and the oil and gas ventures were not included.
Ross figured that with taxes taken off, Allen's expenses, Severance pay for his employees, and office moves, he could walk away with 100 million or more at 250 mil buying price, or 50 to 75 mil at 100 mil buying price.
During this time, Ross had to focus on his daily work, had to take a trip to Texas and Oklahoma to close a major oil deal with a lot of wells with Steve and Fritz, and other things.
Allen finished his analyzing in the 30 day time frame he had promised Ross, and then a week later, Ross was shocked to receive a phone call from Allen.
"A guy wants to meet with us to discuss him being a potential buyer. He wants to meet us this week. I suggest you come to my office so I can fill you in. This could be huge, but as you know in business we can't count on anything until it happens" Allen said.
Ross kept this call very quiet and to himself for obvious reasons.
Who was this potential buyer, and what would they say to Ross and Allen?
That would be seen.
