The calls!

Chris Lytle vs. Thiago Alves
Should be a simple enough fight. It stays up, Lytle gets knocked out. It goes to the ground, Alves taps. Who do YOU like?

MY CALL: Alves by TKO

Frank Edgar vs. Spencer Fisher
Another fun fight. Edgar's a tough guy. No doubt there. Fisher is the guy they want to give a title shot to in the worst possible way. He's got too much talent for Edgar all-around.

MY CALL: Fisher by Decision

Ryo Chonan vs. Karo Parysian

What a debut for Chonan. Both guys have title shot written all over them. Once Hughes is done with Serra and GSP's done with Hughes, both these guys could pose a threat. With the way things have been going for PRIDE fighters in their debut's this year though, I gotta give the edge to Karo for his experience.

MY CALL: Parysian by Decision

Joe Doerkson vs. Ed Herman

Of all the fights Dave Terrell had to get injured before.... Should be the chance Herman needs to step up his game after a lack-lustre performance after TUF 3.

MY CALL: Herman by Decision

Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva

Silva's a tough guy. No question there. But unless someone can get Alexander down and keep him there long enough to submit him, he's not stopping until he gets a title shot.

MY CALL: Alexander by KO/TKO

Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping

I don't know what it is, but the guys I find the most annoying and that I could care less about keep winning TUF contracts. Both these guys like to stand and trade. Both these guys have ground skills. Here's the thing: Evans' last fight, he would have won if Ortiz had gone down instead of grabbing the cage. Evans would have had him cold. Granted, I don't think Evans is a better fighter than Ortiz. It was just his night. I don't know what fight the judges were watching, but Matt Hamill beat Michael Bisping. Hamill got robbed, plain and simple.

That being said, Rashad Evans: good enough to hang with the big boys. Michael Bisping: questionable and hasn't been tested against anyone the calibur of Tito Ortiz, let alone holding his own against them. Should go the distance though.

MY CALL: Evans by Decision.

See you on Saturday!

I could care less about any fight in this PPV, except Alexander/Silva. Alexander is great, but there are just too many unknowns in his game. Stamina? Ground game? Alexander has already said he wants a 1st round KO. He'll give his all in 1. If he doesn't get it in 1, he might be out of gas.

While the fights on this card seem to be inconsequential for the divisions, there are a number that are coming in under the radar. Chonan/Parisyan is looking at a title shot. Evans/Bisping gets entry to the top 5 at 205. Alexander/Sivla to the top 10 at 205. Edgar/Fisher either punches Fisher's ticket to the title or completely validates Edgar. A lot can happen tomorrow night.

I'm glad Alexander finally got his 1rst loss in the Octagon. This guy was so overhyped. I never understood why people cheered a one-dimensional brawler like that.

The fights pretty much went as expected except for the Fisher and Alexander matches. It really wasnt the most exciting card to begin with.I havent seen the Parisyan fight yet but I read it was lackluster. With that past, we can prepare for an exciting event. Now,with the addition of the Soko/Machida fight this event is gonna be sweet.:bouncybou

true dat.....well mostly :jester:

the one dimensional thing i can deal with.it`s the god-like status he was getting for KOing Jardine and Sakara...at least Sokuwhatever`s hype comes from KOing Lil Nog and Arona(although i have some issues with his hype as well)

as for the rest....
shocked Fisher was controlled like that
shocked Herman got a KO
disappointed in Karo`s performance(although it could`ve been that Chonan was a very game opponent)
still can`t figure out why a dude that KO`d Pulver is on the undercard fighting nobodies
wish the whole card was shown....heard the other fights were pretty good
heard that Bisping is moving to 185
wishes Rashad lost
and i believe Hendo and Silva are fighting in March for the MW titles

Sokoudjou is judo black belt 2nd degree, so his groundgame is surely much better than Alexander's.
Even if Fisher is indubitabily an A-level fighter, I'm not surprised by his loss. After all, his opponent is arguably the next big thing at 155 lbs.
Parisian just LnP'd on Chonan.

Wtf

Looks like we are all gonna see Hughes/St. Pierre 3.I am a big Hughes fan and was looking forward to see him crush Serra to regain the belt. The one thing that Matt has on his side is that Georges took the fight on short notice. My heart feels Hughes but my mind knows St. Pierre will win.I am going against the odds and picking Hughes. :scared:
