Ever tickled in a doctors office/ medical setting?

I've never been tickled in a doctors office or similar medical setting, but apparently it happens more than you might think.

For example, I've recently witnessed a couple of my female family members giggle and laugh as their ticklish bare feet were examined in the doctors office....being tested for sensation (both family members have diabetes).

Two of my three younger sisters says they've been tickled on several occasions in the doctors office....either their bare feet or around the waist; in particular my oldest sister who was injured about twenty years ago in a car accident. Sis suffered an injured neck vertabra and temporary numbness in her legs, and afterwords was under the care of a neurologist whom she said stroked/ tickled her feet and toes while testing her sensation....sometimes to the point she was laughing uncontrollaby.

Both my oldest sister and my girlfriend also say they've been tickled during physical exams; Traci said she giggled repeatedly from being tickled while undergoing an army induction physical at age 18....said one of the doctor said "wow, you are really a ticklish one" 😀 ; Sis said once after having a baby, the female Mississippi doctor conducting an exam in the hospital stroked her slender bare soles from heel to toe with something sharp, and she nearly jumped off the bed and giggled uncontrollaby.

I also found some interesting comments from women regarding being tickled in doctors offices on this website (their comments toward the bottom of the page).

Has anyone else experienced this....or know someone who has; being tickled in a doctors office, hospital, or another medical setting?

I'm lucky enough to have at least a little tickling every few months. I have to go to one of the hospitals in New Orleans for regular checkups because that particular hospital deals with patients like me..ones who have Cystic Fibrosis.

And during the exam, whenever the doc is checking for...whatever it is (I'm gonna have to ask one day, since I still don't know what it's for. lol), those nails of hers poking me tickle like crazy..and she's not even TRYING to tickle.

Once, she was checking "down there" and those nails ...damn..if I hadn't put my hands on hers to stop her, I would've ended up wishing I was in a soundproof room (I know the other doctors and nurses who know me would've had a good idea of who was laughing so loud, if it'd happened. )

...now that I think about it, sometimes she MIGHT be doing the tickling on purpose....other female doctors haven't been able to resist sliding a nail along the scar I have from an operation (from when I was a baby)...and when I see the look on their faces, it looks like they're enjoying seeing me try to not laugh.

Sometimes this disease has it's good sides. 😀

these things happen a lot, but are mainly left in silence for obviuous reasons! After all this is non-consentual and people might not remember it in such a good way.

I was tickled once as a kid and by my own cousin! I was laying on the table with nothing on my legs and feet, the doctor was watching carefully at my knees and holding my legs firmly in place and my mom was next to him looking on what he was doing. My cousin was at my feet and as we were both like 6 or 7 years old (only 9months difference between the two of us) he was almost under the table wich was a high one. He kept light tickling my feet whenever the doctor was holding my legs firmly, he made it cause he knew I was shy and would try not to laugh....he have made advantage of me being shy many times on our lifes till I got older, bigger and a strong personality. ends up like a fun memory 🙂 it tickled like hell but he was carefull enough to tickle just a few seconds at a time so I was able to old it.

I´ve never been tickled by doctors altough I seem them a lot...but I´m not ticklish on my belly 🙂 other way I´d bee in trouble cause I see a gastro regularly....have a bad stomach 🙁 She surely spends a lot of time on my belly looking carefully at my face but usually I feel neither pain nor tickles and can stand preety relaxed. Being a tickler I can tell you I´d be in serious trouble if I was ticklish on my belly!

I was intentionally tickled in a doctors care twice, and several times accidentally.

The first time was when I was getting ready to have my labor induced in the hospital. I had suffered a very mild diabetic stroke a few days prior due to an overdose of insulin, and the doctor was checking the strength and sensation in my limbs to be sure no damage had taken effect. He performed the standard babinsky test on my left foot, and when I let out a shriek and pulled my ankle away, he grinned up at me and asked "ticklish?" He then proceeded to do the same to my right foot, making sure to keep an extra tight hold on that one so I wouldn't kick him.

The second time was merely a case of having a screwy doctor. I was seeing a new orthopedic doctor for some pain I was having in my left knee, and being the goofball he was he decided to play a round of "this little piggy" on my right foot. I wound up laughing more at the sillyness of it than the actual sensation, though.

My tummy and back are both also very ticklish, so nearly everytime a doctor has to examine my tummy, or listen to my lungs through the back I have to stiffle a giggle or two.

Tickling in a doctor's office

Many, many, many years ago I had to see a new doctor for a physical. The nurse asked me to undress and get on the table. When I asked her for one of those hospital covers she said oh we don't use those here. So I climbed on the table totally naked. When the doctor came in he proceeded to give me the usual physical. Then he asked me to lay on my back on the table. He said he was going to check my reflexes and asked if I was ticklish. I replied I was insanely ticklish. He then called his nurse in. The nurse walked behind my head and asked me to put my hands over my head. She then bent slightly down and wrapped her arms through my bent elbows. The doctor said that studies had shown that reflexes were best tested by a series of small tickles of the ribs, sides, bellybutton and underarms. I literally began to quiver and shake because those are my most ticklish spots. I told the doctor I didn't think I would be able to stand this kind of testing. He said not to worry - the test would not take very long and that's why the nurse was gently holding me down. He placed his hand on my tummy and then using his right index finger began making small circles around my bellybutton. Every time he finished a circle his finger came closer and closer to my button. I literally was quivering like mad and my belly was heaving up and down. Oh god, doctor I kept saying I don't think I can take much more of this. Calm down, dear, we've just begun the doctor said. In a few second his finger was inside my button, gently tickling away. I tried desperately not to laugh but in a few seconds my whole body was convulsed with laughter and I was begging the doctor to stop. I remember screaming" Stop...stop...please, stop, that tickles so much!!!!!" He said the reflex test was going very well and continue to tickle inside my button while I convulsed with laughter and begged him to stop. When he finally took his finger out of my button, he then used the index and middle fingers of both his hands to walk up my sides. He started at my waist and gently walked his fingers up my sides to my armpits..I was literally screaming with laughter...my head was shaking from side to side and I remember my exposed breasts were also trembling like crazy. His fingers stopped just short of my armpits and then he walked his fingers back down my sides to my waist. I was quivering so hard I thought I would pee right on the table and screaming, please, stop, please stop,...that tickles...I'm too ticklish for you to do this test.!!!! We've almost done, the doctor said....just a few more minutes. His fingers quickly glided all over my tummy and belly making me jump skyhigh and then he walked his fingers up my sides again, straight into my armpits..He used just his two index fingers and gently swirled them around the hollows of my pits. My underarms are the most ticklish part of my body. Being touched theredrives me literally insane. I was laughing hysterically was begging for relief. And then he finally stopped and said my reflexes were working great!!!! Honest to God, this is a true story.

This is very strange! I have several friends who are studying for doctors, have grown up among doctors as I´ve already stated before in the TMF.

One thing for sure!!!! Something´s going on there on the US...there´s no point on those tickle tests...no point at all! People have different levels of ticklishness and would react in different ways to being tickled...hell...they can react in different ways even depending on the time of day, on the persson tickling them....it´s not really something of cientific value!
And another thing! here in Portugal, my friends are being tought to cause minimum stress on anyone who goes to see them! This means they have orders to avoid tickling and any other things that can stress the persson and therefore change his/her reactions to any further exams.
The only tickle test wich is really used is the "babinsky reflex" and it´s by no means a standard procedure around here, it´s kept for use only in neuro exams or other specific situations.

I love tickling but one thing is to have it from whom we want, another is to have someone using is job to get inocent people.

So, for once and for all: there´s no point for a doctor to oppenly tickle you, they should avoid it if possible....i recon it´s impossible with many people 🙂 but drawing circles around a navel.....what reflex is being tested there????

If this story was true you got into something at least weird 😕

I don't think Chicago Lass is complaining!!😀 😀 But, you're right-her experience does sound kinda freaky.

I think that most of us very ticklish people have found parts of medical exams ticklish. I certainly have. Once when this happened I ask my doctor who sees primarily males if there were very meany other guys who were ticklish during ecams. He replied about a third of his patients were ticklish during exams and about one in ten was so ticklish that he he could not do parts of the exam.

Parts of the annual physical exams that I have found ticklish include the abdominal palpations, the part where guys are asked to cough, checking the lymph nodes under the arms, etc.

In podiatric exams the manual exam of the toes as well as the babinsky reflex test are ticklish for me.

Once an orthopedic surgeon had me squirming all over the exam table as he repeatedly lightly touched my knees as three of his staff members watched. Each time he asked me if it hurt. I could not help giggling as I told him no. I did not want to admit how ticklish it was. Later I wondered if the tickling in that exam was not intentional.

Here's a crazy story...

A few years ago I was going in for a hernia operation.
No bid deal, except that the nurse right before the operation had to shave my belly hair...Now at that time I didn't think I was ticklish...

well when she touched that shaver to my belly, my belly just jumped up and down...and she looked over and said..with "that" glint in her eye..."ticklish"...I said not normally...and my belly just kept squirming around...

I honestly never knew shaving my belly would be ticklish and of course I was trying to get my belly not to jump due to the fact that it was a RAZOR on my belly...but hey if they were going in anyway LOL

Here's three medically related tickling stories I've witnessed....all three took place at Wellstar Douglas hospital in Douglasville, Georgia.

About fifteen years ago, one of my aunts was admitted to the hospital with heart trouble....and the nurses brought in a young woman (age 25-30) who was suffering from chest pains and injured back (she'd been in a car accident) for the other bed in the semi-private room. I was on the other side of the room talking with my aunt...a curtain drawn between the two patient beds as the nurse examined the young woman, and all of a sudden heard the young woman burst out laughing...and saying "oh god, stop!".."I'm too ticklish there". The nurse kept telling her "I have to test your sensation miss; doctors orders". Of course, hearing that peaked my interest. After several more tries (and subsequent bursts of giggles and laughter), the nurse finally left. The young woman later told my aunt and I the nurse was stroking the soles of her feet from heel to toe with a Q-tip, and she was just too ticklish to withstand it (she was so ticklish, that she could barely withstand a nurse checking the pulse on her ankle..she'd giggle like crazy).

The second time occurred in 1991 when I was working as a hospital security officer. I was stationed in the emergency room (not unusual on a Friday or Saturday evening) when the paramedics brought in a very attracive young woman on a stretcher....she appeared to be 18 or 19 yrs old. It was bitterly cold weather, snow & ice on the ground...and the woman had lost control of her car and slid off the road, ending upside down in a culvert. She appeared to be okay, but according to one of the paramedics, the girl and was complaining of stiffness in her neck, and said her toes were numb until she was inside the ambulance (likely from the fright and extreme cold). I kept hearing the ER doctor say "tell me if you feel this"?....and several times she responded by giggling loudly. I later asked a nurse (friend of mine) what was going on, and she said "the doctor was checking her feet and legs for sensation, and like me, she's very ticklish down there". 😀

The third event occurred only a few months ago (last winter) after my elderly grandmother fell and was hospitalized for several days. One evening, a young nurse was changing my grandmother's socks, and as she put the new pair on, my grandmother giggled a little, and said (to the nurse) "sorry, but that tickled"..."are you ticklish too". The young nurse (who is as cute as a doll) replied with a big grin: "my feet"?...."oh yes Mrs. Williams"..."very ticklish..."too ticklish". 😀

Durring a paramedic class I took, I saw a tickle or two take place. Durring one class, we got into pairs and had to practice probing a patients abdominal area to feel for posible abnormalaties. There was a pair next to me and my partner. A female was checking her male partner's ab area when he squirmed and made a funny face. She asked him if he was faking a pain reaction, or if it was a tickle reaction. He said it was a tickle reaction, and that he was very ticklish.

However, I'd be very surprised if it isn't a wonderful piece of fiction.

Hmmm...you think? 😉

I can remember back in high school taking a health class. We were learning about the heimlick maneuver(speeling errors I'm sure. There was one girl that pretty much all the guys enjoyed practicing on because she let out the fact that it tickled and just how very ticklish she was. She doubled over immediately and into laughter. It was a fond memory for sure. It also makes me remember an experience involving her. Maybe I will post the story.

Count me In...

I get tickled almost every time I go into the office for a check-up. My doctor also does a "sensation test" on my feet. I start giggling even before he starts. In the winter time it's even worse. My feet are very very sensitive when they've been in shoes and socks all day. The soles are extra soft, and the lightest touch makes me crazy!

It was funny, one of the last times I was in the office, my doctor actually said, "I remember this test tickles you, are you ready for this?"...LMAO

Yes, and I hate it!!! Whenever I've had any kind of exam, my doctor always has me lie on my back, and at some point he squeezes my belly, and it's all I can do to stifle my laughter. The reason I hate it is because my Doctors an old man, so it's very awkward.
Another time I was getting some tests done due to a chronic eye infection. Since nobody could figure out what caused the infection, and why it wasn't clearing up, my opthamologist recommended me to an allergy specialist. The specialist had a nurse who was an older woman, and part of the procedure was that she had to spread some sort of lotion on my back(this was years ago, so I don't remember all the details) and she got close to my side, I flinched and started giggling. The nurse said "ticklish?" I said yes, and she intentionally poked my side again, making me laugh again. She was an older woman, so it wasn't a turn on, or anything but it made a boring medical procedure a little fun

Many, many times.

I had a sonogram done on the inside of my leg and when the tech was almost finished, for some reason, she ran the wand up the bottom of my foot. It was so unexpected I laughed but managed to not kick her!

Every year for my physical my doctor uses her light to look in my mouth, nose, ears. You know the routine. Well that dame piece of plastic is always just toughing my ear and I squint up my face and try not to move. Every time she asks why I'm making a face, does it hurt? And I have to tell her it tickles!

I've had the babinski test done on multiple occasions for testing. The first time I SCREAMED while the doctor calmly told his wife (the assistant) "Oh oh!" The next time he said he was going to do it I begged him not to. Not only did he do it, but his wife stood there and laughed at me squirming and screaming!

Had to have my chest shaved to put leads on for a test. Tickles every time and the nurses seem to find it very amusing!

Went to the dermatologist for a check up and that dude was running his fingers so lightly over my sides and back I had goose-pimples and was making all kinds of faces to keep from bursting out laughing.

And the chiropractor has his assistants use the infrared massage wand on my back and neck. Invariably they go to far to one side or down toward my love handles and I giggle.

These are all more a result of me being very ticklish than their attempts to tickle me though!

Yes! Several years ago, I was having my back looked at to ensure that my spine wasn't out of whack. I had to stand up straight and extend my arms out in front of me so that they could take an x-ray. The female x-ray technician was the assailant here. And no, I know that we're all having this fantasy of the x-ray technician as being a porn star babe, but unfortunately she wasn't particularly good looking.

In any case, the x-ray technician did something interesting. She quickly brushed her hand down my side as I was standing there with my arms out, almost like it was an accident. It caused me to jerk that side away from her. I assumed it was an accident at that point, but then she did something more interesting. She told me that I wasn't standing up straight, came up behind me, and positioned me into place by placing her hands on my underarms and trying to move my upper body taut. This of course had the opposite effect of causing my arms to race back to protect my underarms and for me to lurch forward to escape the tickling.

To this day I have a suspicion that two tickles in one setting were two coincidental to be a coincidence.
